Springtime outfit round-up

Since tomorrow marks the first official day of summer, it's time for another seasonal outfit round-up! I enjoy looking back at my outfits from the past season and picking my favorites to highlight here. There were a bunch of outfits that I'd totally forgotten about (and I'd also managed to block out the fact that the wintery weather lasted into April this year)! Here are the ones that stood out this spring:

March
outfit round-up

In March, I ventured beyond my own (freezing cold and snowy) backyard for certain posts – and was joined by my sweet and stylish friend, Henry! I think my favorite post was my 50's diner post, wherein Henry and I visited the Strong National Museum of Play, and I wore one of my favorite Bernie Dexter dresses and brand new Erstwilder brooch.

There was still snow on the ground throughout much of April, but not even that could dampen my spirits when I found out I'd be a part of the Unique Vintage Style Society! My term with the Style Society will be up at the end of June, and I've so enjoyed the time I've spent working with this company. My favorite post from April was probably my first Style Society post, featuring the dreamiest, mintiest dress in all of creation.

May

Thankfully, the weather finally started to warm up in May! May also features some of my favorite outfits in this whole post, which made it very hard to choose my favorite, but I think I'd have to pick my cherry blossom post in Highland Park. My best friend and I visited at precisely the right time, so all of the flowering trees were beautifully in bloom, and I thought my outfit was the epitome of spring.

Spring never lasts nearly as long as I'd like, so I enjoyed looking back through my outfit posts! Which outfit was your favorite? Let me know in the comments!

Some other spring

vintage dress

I am seriously so happy it's finally spring. Winter seemed to last forever this year, and it was colder than even my parents remember it ever being. But little spring flowers are starting to spring up – crocuses, snowdrops and daffodils are finally waking up, and it's such a sight for sore eyes. This springy vintage dress (a permanent swap from sweet Elana) always makes me happy, and I thought it'd be the perfect thing to wear now that spring has finally arrived.

In other news, my new job working for my mom has been going well so far! I'm really enjoying working from home, and I'm feeling really good about my decision. It was definitely time to try something different, and it's fortunate that she and I are so close (and we work well together). I've been working on her website and helping with some press releases and proposals, which has been pretty enjoyable. My work load is admittedly kind of light right now since I have a lot to learn, but I'm feeling really positive about the whole thing.

Florals Galore || Unique Vintage Blog

Spring has finally sprung here in Rochester, so it's high time to break out my floral print dresses! Personally, I'm of the mind that floral prints can be worn at any time of year, but there is something that feels so much cheerier about wearing them when everything is starting to bloom. I'm sharing some of my favorite florals over on the Unique Vintage blog today, and sharing a few tips for making the most out of your floral frocks and pretty prints.  Follow me over to Unique Vintage, won't you?

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Spring fever

bernie dexter bee dress

It's now officially spring... but it doesn't really feel like it here!  The snow has melted a bit since I took these photos, but my backyard is still snowy.  Since I'm pretty sick of wearing winter boots, I decided to switch up the scenery a bit and take some photos on my snow-less street.  Because it's still pretty chilly, I decided to infuse as much spring as I could into my outfit!

I really had fun putting together this ensemble!  In all honesty, I'm not great at remixing the pieces in my closet; when I come up with a way to wear something, I usually stick with it.  But when I was coming up with an outfit to wear to work, I soon realized that the top portion of this dress wasn't very appropriate.  Luckily, I happened to have a sunny yellow sweater to wear over it.  I sometimes plan out the perfect outfit over a long span of time, but I love those moments when you're struck with outfit inspiration (as silly as that sounds)!

Oh, and sweet Amy Rose drew the most darling doodle of me in this dress!  Her work is so adorable.  If you're not following her on Instagram, you definitely should be.  Thank you again, Amy Rose!  <3

Springtime Round-up

Happy Saturday and Happy Summer!  I've gotten into the habit of doing seasonal round-ups of my favorite ensembles, so here are my favorite outfits from this spring:

March

April

May

I think my collection of outfits from May is my favorite out of the three, but I like being able to look back on everything and remember ensembles that I particularly liked!  Which post was your favorite?

I actually have some time off this weekend (normally, I work on Saturdays), which is great, because I have a lot to get done around here.  FYI, my blog is going to be set to private late Sunday night to do some fun revamping... I'm excited!  I hope you all like what I have planned as much as I do!  :)  Be sure to check back on Monday morning for some fun new things!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Friday Favorites #42

It's officially spring now (finally!), so I guess it's okay for me to launch full force into my pastel-loving tendencies.  I ordered new pastel periwinkle glasses this week online (I've never ordered real glasses online, only fake readers, so I'm a little nervous!), and I can't get enough of the hues my mom feels are associated with Easter.  Here are some of my favorite frocks and finds from this week:

      A    //    B    //    C

I love all three pairs of these springy heels!  BAIT Footwear and Miss L-Fire are two of the best retro-inspired shoe brands out there, in my opinion.  I'm especially crushing on those mint ones!  These cherry wedges are also by Miss L-Fire, and they are a thing of beauty:
While we're on the subject of fruit-wear, I have to mention this gingham dress with the watermelon collar (which is showing up on everyone's wish lists this week -- for good reason!):

In fact, there were a ton of food-related novelty print dresses to be found this week!  This particular dress has a breakfast print on it (complete with pancakes, donuts and bacon!):

I absolutely love this candy print dress from eShakti:
My favorite has to be this popsicle print dress from Emily and Fin.  I love that it comes in two versions!  I'm hoping that this dress will be carried at ModCloth or ASOS, since both retailers often have Emily and Fin dresses (and these are only available for pre-order on another website).

Donut socks!  And I really love those sheer blush socks, too.
       a // b

This dress isn't strictly concerned with edibles, but I'm lusting after this fairground print dress by Hell Bunny!  It's also available in a different version (which I might like slightly better) here.  I'm fairly certain one of them needs to find its way into my wardrobe, somehow.
Some other great novelty print dresses from this week include this pool party print dress (also from Emily and Fin, and available only for pre-order)...

a // b

... And these two lovely dresses from Poppy (the one on the left is boats in a dock, and then second has different types of helium balloons):
1 // 2

Speaking of balloons, I'm completely obsessed with these balloon tights!

I love these fanciful sweatshirts!
a // b

Anything with scallops will usually have my vote... and this bowl from Target definitely does:
Although I adore both of these light blue dresses, the one with the scalloped collar has my heart:
one // two

Mint scalloped shorts?!  Want!

I love all three of these pastel beauties from Lindy Bop!
1 // 2 // 3

And this swimsuit would make me feel like a pastel bathing beauty!
I love these quirky, pink home accessories!  Especially the bunny stapler!
a // b // c

I yo-yo back and forth between choosing mint or lavender as my favorite color... and these items are edging lavender into the lead this week:

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6

Thanks to Kristina of Twee Valley High, I desperately want this gorgeous book!
Finally, I love this little story about a man in the UK who was scammed out of his money for a PS3... and in retaliation, he's texted the seller 22 of Shakespeare's complete plays.  Amazing.

That's all for now!  I hope you have a fantastic Friday!

Wintertime Round-Up

It's the first day of Spring!  Back in December, I started did a round-up post with all of my autumnal outfits.  Now that the vernal equinox is upon us, I decided to bid adieu to winter with a round-up that features my favorite outfits from the past few months.  Here's hoping that warmer weather is on its way!

December

December Favorite: Haul out the holly
Runner-up: White Christmas

January

Runner-up: Out on the lanai

February

February Favorite: Valentine
Runner-up: Baby Be Mine

This winter was the first time I braved the icy temperatures and snow drifts and took photos outside, and one thing's for certain: I'll be overjoyed to not have to incorporate boots into my outfits anymore!  I think I managed to do pretty well in terms of posting actively, despite the less-than-perfect Upstate weather.  I was also ecstatic to be able to escape to Florida for a week on vacation, which allowed for both flats and a welcome change in scenery (and temperature).  This winter welcomed new followers, new friends, and a new boy in my life.  Despite having a rough autumn, I'm finding my stride and my strength again, and although there are things that scare me about the not-to-distant future, I'm excited to see where things are headed.  I always remind myself to find the joy in life, and there's nothing more representative of that to me than spring being on its way!

I hope you have a wonderful first day of spring!

I love Paris in the springtime

I had my own personal photographer this weekend, when I went to visit Steven for the wedding we attended!  I felt special, having someone following me around like a paparazzo, but it was also a strange adjustment (since I'm so used to hauling the tripod into the backyard).  But Steven snapped some pretty pictures of my travel outfit on the night I arrived...

Outfit Details:
Paris Swing Dress: Bernie Dexter (via eBay)
Ida P. Blue Spectator Pumps: B.A.I.T. Footwear
Necklace: ASOS

I just love the print of this dress!  Bernie Dexter makes another style of dress in this same print (which is still available on her site and at ModCloth), but I had actually ordered it before and didn't like the fit on me; it was too big in the bust, oddly, and simply didn't look right.  Bernie ends up doing quite a number of auctions on her eBay store, and I've purchased several items through her that way.  There isn't much in her store there right now, but if you like Bernie Dexter's designs, you should definitely check that out from time to time!  Her stuff is lovely but can be on the pricy side for me, so I love when she lists items!

I arrived on the train in the late afternoon, so Steven and I were able to go out for a nice dinner at one of our favorite places in his town.  They have the most amazing fish dishes I've ever eaten, and both times we've been, the food's been outstanding.  After dinner, we went on a walk and got ice cream from the Haagen Dazs shop(!) in a neighboring town.  They didn't have our favorite flavor (Blueberry Crumble), but it was still delicious.

Have a lovely spring day!
