This is what I actually ended up wearing last night, though I really didn't do much! We ate dinner super late (my dad had an early gig, which is odd for New Year's Eve), and it was generally very low-key. I truly am a homebody at heart though, so I honestly didn't really mind staying home. Plus, it was absolutely freezing outside (it was around 15 degrees yesterday, and it supposed to be a whopping 9 degrees tomorrow!), so staying bundled up seemed like the preferable option.
It was so cold, in fact, that I felt like my hands were going to fall off while taking these photos! Winter lasts for so long here, and I am so incredibly impatient. My room looks presentable enough for some passable photos there, if I'm in a pinch, but the lighting is so much better outside. Which reminds me, I need to start experimenting with my new camera... it's totally weird that I'm avoiding it. I've wanted a DSLR for so long, and yet I'm scared of change! I'm a silly creature.
I have the next two days off, which is nice (and I'm supposed to see my friend Julia on Thursday, which will be great)... but I'm getting my wisdom teeth out on Friday. I'm very nervous about it. Like a lot of things, I put it off for a looong time, and now it's here. I've never really had any procedures or surgeries in my life, and I don't know what to expect. I've never been put under anesthesia, either. I'm also worried about my TMJ acting up as a result, and pretty much every other worrisome scenario one could think of (and believe me, I have). I'm sure it'll be fine, but I'll definitely look like a chipmunk for a few days (I already have a round face, so I can't even imagine what I'll look like), and I've pretty much been warned that at least the one bottom tooth is going to be kind of painful. Woohoo. Anyway, I'm trying to get some posts scheduled in advance so that I don't have to worry about it while I'm recovering. Those who have had their wisdom teeth taken out: any advice for me?? :-x
I'm thinking of maybe trying something where I pinpoint little joys of my day, or what I'm looking forward to, in my posts. A main goal for me in 2014 is to always find the joy, so maybe this would be a good way to do that. A big one for this morning would be... not having to set an alarm! :)
Have a wonderful first day of 2014!!

the dress is so lovely
ReplyDeleteAw, good luck on your wisdom teeth removal! Don't worry, it doesn't hurt afterward... until the meds die off. :D Oh, oops, that wasn't very positive. But you'll be fine!!
ReplyDeleteI really adore this velvet dress on you--I feel like it's different from what you normally wear (kinda sexy with dem tights o0o0o0o gurl~) but you definitely made it you with that headband and cute belt! I love it! :D
Have a graaaaand New Years, my pretty! Ehehehee! (flys off on her broomstick)
From far away I didn't know that was a belt--I thought you were wearing a crop top and a high waisted skirt, hehe! But regardless, so adorable, and unusual to see you in all black! :-)
ReplyDeleteI just had my wisdom teeth removed last year (haha, New Year jokes) and it was a bummer, but nothing to be too scared about! It was my first time under anaesthesia too, but I am very thankful for it! Just stock up on soft foods (mmm, mashed potatoes) and gauze and be sure to clean out your gums every once in a while to avoid infection. Ooh, and invest in a cute ice pack--mine was shaped like a little piggie!
Good luck with the procedure, it'll be totally fine, and have a wonderful new year!

decked out in ruffles
This is a gorgeous look, there's something so fun about a velvet dress that seems vintage and awesome. And your floral headcrown is soo pretty!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your wisdom teeth :)

This outfit is one of your simpler ones, but to me it really highlights how important (and how good you are at picking out) details are. That belt looks great with that dress.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with getting your wisdom teeth out. When mine came out, I had a job that occasionally put me on the night shift (at a hotel, so 11:00-7:00). I stayed up at work all night and then got mine out, so I slept. BUT good advice is to not drink anything with a straw (suction is bad for pulled teeth for some reason) and try to schedule at least a day off of work afterwards to take it easy as the meds wear off.
good luck with getting your wisdom teeth taken out, i've not really had any major problems with mine so i haven't needed to get them out but i'm sure your surgery will be fine. also great dress, it's so handy having a simple black dress in your wardrobe, and all the better if it's velvet!

Oh, I totally identified with what you said regarding learning your new camera. I've had my dslr for abut three years now and I still use the auto setting. I stink at learning new things. That should be one of my resolutions I suppose! You look stunning in this black dress. I love the bit of softness your floral headband adds to the look. And you always have the prettiest most flawless makeup! Ah I love it.
ReplyDeleteLove your outfit! That belt and flower crown are so sweet! Good luck with getting your wisdom teeth out! You'll be recovered in no time. It's just a great excuse to eat ice cream, right? After having just recovered from not one, but two bouts of sickness with the past two weeks, I'm hoping 2014 starts off happy and healthy for you! Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteYou sure do know your stuff! Combining various elements to make your dress more effective and the fact that your environment adds to its “mystique” feel. How did your dental procedure go, by the way? I hope it wasn't too bad! Thanks for sharing!
