Frozen

unique vintage winter skirt

I feel very Elsa-esque in this wonderfully wintery skirt from Unique Vintage. It's very fitting for the weather here too, since we got a ton of snow recently – and temperatures have been staying in the 15-20° range. I really love all of these UV brand skirts; they're especially great for holidays and they hold their shape so nicely. And since winter lasts so long here in Rochester, I know I'll be able to wear this one for months to come.

Although this outfit was totally impractical for getting a Christmas tree, I couldn't resist heading to a local Christmas tree farm for these photos. Sadly, we didn't find a tree that would work for my small space. But we did find a fake white one that looks pretty darn adorable in my living room! I was able to make some headway on cookie baking and present wrapping yesterday, so while I'm sure I'll still feel a bit stressed this week, I'm hoping I'll be able to relax and enjoy. :)

Oh, and I forgot: in case you hadn't noticed, I dyed my hair! It's more subtle in person, but I really like it a lot. I'm not one to get bored with my hair, but I felt like it was getting kinda dull and listless. I was in desperate need of a cut, but I wanted a little change, too. It had been a LONG time since I'd put any color in my hair. Part of me wishes I hadn't waited so long! It was the perfect holiday pick-me-up.

Gingerbread

modcloth gingerbread skirt

Honestly, is anyone surprised that I have this skirt? It has little gingerbread men and women all over it AND it has pockets. That's definitely a win! I wore this out to dinner and to meet up with some friends last weekend, and it was an instant holiday hit. It also reminds me that I need to bake Christmas cookies with my mom soon. Luckily, the waistband is a bit stretchy to accommodate all of my holiday eating!

Of course, I had to pair the skirt with my matching brooch from Erstwilder. In my opinion, their holiday collections can't be beat. I'm *almost* embarrassed to say that I own about five of their Christmas brooches from last year's and this year's collections. But they're all so good that I'm really not ashamed.

Red Velvet

red velvet dress sourpuss clothing

Helloooo, snow! Christmas is but 11 days away, which means I've been severely slacking on my holiday outfit posts – so I'd better get crackin'! I've been meaning to style this luxe velvet dress from Sourpuss Clothing for weeks, but the time really got away from me. Fortunately, it's the perfect Christmas dress. Red velvet is just so quintessentially jolly, and I love that it's stretchy (ideal for big holiday meals!) and has the cute little bow on the bust. I decided to style it in a casual way for this post to prove that I don't always dress to the nines... but I enjoy the fact that this dress would look just as great with a pair of heels as it does with a biker jacket and boots!

I didn't get a tree this past weekend, so finding an artificial one is on my to-do list. I'm thinking I might go for obnoxious, tacky white – but they're difficult to find if you don't want to spend a lot. I still have a few presents to buy (and all of them to wrap!)... plus, I need to bake cookies and watch Christmas movies and go look at Christmas lights and arghhhhh why can't time slow down!? :)

Bulldog

charlotte ronson bulldog sweatshirt

As an animal lover, I was so excited to see the results of Erstwilder's #BroochMyPet competition in their newest Fan Pets range of designs. When I received the Taciturn Taco brooch, I knew I had to pair this cutie with a matching pullover that's been oft ignored for no good reason. I love how it looks as if the big bulldog is looking adoringly at its pup! In an effort to stretch my existing wardrobe, I layered this sweatshirt over my black Jenny dress from PUG (how apropos, given the dog theme!) to instantly create a skirt.

I took these photos on one of the last, beautiful days of fall. It's definitely more wintery now, but since Christmas is less than two weeks away(!!!??), I don't mind so much. I got a chance to do some holiday things this weekend – I did some shopping, looked for a Christmas tree, and watched Scrooged. Plus, I got a much-needed hair cut (and color!) and saw some dear friends I hadn't seen in far too long. Next weekend, I'll need to get down to business and start wrapping presents!

Friday Favorites #145

Happy Friday! I'm dying to do holiday preparation this weekend, so forgive me if I'm in a Christmas-y mood... but if you love this season as much as I do, you probably won't be too upset. :)

I adore this *literal* Christmas tree skirt from The Oblong Box Shop!

And these holiday travel mugs are the cutest.

Wouldn't this ceramic ring dish make a great Christmas present?

I may not drink, but I'm totally intoxicated with this Christmas cocktail print dress:

And honestly, I'm powerless to resist any type of novelty Chanukah sweatshirt that exists.

We're getting snow this weekend, which makes this wintery Luxulite brooch even better:

And the same goes for this Emily and Fin dress!

This pop-up Victorian dollhouse book is just the sort of thing my mom would've gotten for me for Christmas when I was younger... is it weird that I still want one now?

Though not *exactly* seasonal, I think this Stranger Things pin by Kate Gabrielle is all too appropriate for Christmas.

This caroling cat platter is just so cute:

I want to get this cat pillow because it looks exactly like Pumpkin and I really want to see what her reaction to it would be. Also, it looks very soft and snuggly.

I'm a bit infatuated with the Miss Piggy x Kate Spade collection – and this purse, specifically.

This Retrospec'd dress is so pretty. I have my fingers crossed that it'll magically appear under the tree.

And even though it's more snowy than rainy here... I need this umbrella cardigan in my life.

Backseat Baby

sourpuss clothing purse

After being sick for the last week, I'm starting to feel like myself again. It's good timing because I've just started rehearsals for a new show – and I'm also itching to take holiday outfit photos. This outfit might seem a bit more appropriate for Halloween than for Christmas, but as someone who loves spooks & sorcery all year round, it felt perfectly suited for a November day.

Although I tend to carry around the same couple of purses all the time, I do have an extensive bag collection. This "Backseat Baby" spiderweb purse from Sourpuss fits right in. I love that it has a vintage-inspired clasp and the ideal amount of edge. (I also enjoy the fact that I actually am a backseat baby – my mom's band was called Backseat Sally!) This purse actually matches the purple Jenny dress I'm wearing perfectly, though it doesn't look like it in these photos. I had to bring it all together with the Steph Buscema fortune teller print scarf that Ashley gave me!
