Quirk & Kitsch: an accessory guest post for Junebugs and Georgia Peaches!

Hi, all!  I'm doing something fun and different this morning: I'm today's guest blogger over at Junebugs and Georgia Peaches!  For those of you who are unfamiliar with this new-ish addition to the blogosphere, Junebugs and Georgia Peaches is run by the cutest, retro-loving, auburn-locked pair of besties you'll ever see: Modern June Cleaver and Amelia Jetson!  I've had the privilege of getting to know these two lovely ladies over the past few months via Instagram, and they are such sweet girls with wardrobes to die for!  I was absolutely thrilled when I found out they were starting a blog, since they both have such great style and somehow manage to look adorable 24/7.  I was tickled pink when June reached out to me about doing an ad swap, and when she mentioned the possibility of doing a guest post for them, I leapt at the chance!
Seriously, no one should be allowed to be this adorable.
Since these two already have great posts on vintage-inspired fashion, June suggested that I do a post about my beloved collection of quirky and kitschy accessories.  I initially was going to do a post just about handbags, but then I decided to broaden it to include hats and hair accessories, jewelry and my novelty purses!  I've showcased a lot of "out there" accessories on my blog over this past year, but I've never really shown my whole collection in this way before... so if you're curious to see it in its (almost) entirety, head on over to Junebugs and Georgia Peaches to have a little look-see!  Here's a little taste, but be sure to click here to see all the rest!  :)

Have a great Wednesday!

Little red

Outfit Details:
Gretel Gingham Swing Dress: Collectif Clothing
Red bolero: Pinup Girl Clothing (get it here)
White belt & petticoat: eBay
Red boots: DSW (old)
Lips ring: Forever 21

This outfit was another possibility for a Valentine's Day ensemble, but even with the addition of a petticoat, this dress makes so much more sense for summer, and I ended up going with the beautiful dress I borrowed from Dus for the holiday.  I love the detailing on this dress, though; the heart-shaped buttons and the lace along the hem and top are such nice touches.  The only annoying thing about this dress is that I don't think the shape is entirely flattering on me.  Although I really love Collectif's designs, I've found that their sizing can be incredibly strange and inconsistent.  I've made the mistake of ordering clothing directly from their site before, and since they're based in the UK, returns are kind of a hassle.  Since ModCloth carries Collectif, it's much better to be able to read reviews and ask questions about sizing through them.  I think retro repro brands sometimes run a little big, in general -- am I the only one who feels this way?  Luckily, whatever sizing issues this dress has are easily fixed with the bolero & belt combination.  I just wish I had better boots to wear with this -- preferably ones that don't make my legs look impossibly stubby (which is not usually a problem for someone who is 5'7")!

I'd scheduled these last few posts in advance, since I've been away for the weekend.  By the time this is published, I'll be on a bus heading back home.  I don't schedule posts this far in advance very much (I find it kind of weird to not be giving current updates on my life), but it is sort of freeing to not have to worry about putting it together the night before.  I often wonder what other bloggers do in terms of scheduling posts... I always feel like people will know if I'm being inauthentic in terms of a timeline, but then I think about the fact that I really don't know what other bloggers are actually doing on a day-to-day basis, so everyone could be scheduling posts a week ahead of time, while I'm the schmuck who's staying up late to finish hers the night before it's published.  Truth be told, I always work best under pressure anyway.

Have a beautiful Monday!

Second star to the right

Outfit Details:
Neverland print dress: Pinup Girl Clothing
Dream of the Crop Cardigan: ModCloth
Belt: from another dress
Necklace: Forever 21
Flats: jcpenney

Time for more Florida pictures!  Amidst all the snow and cold, I felt it was time to feature some more photos from my vacation.  When we booked our trip to Disney World, I knew that I would have to pack this Peter Pan print dress from Pinup Girl Clothing.  I bought it the very first day it went live on their website, and I couldn't be more glad.  The pink is so perfect, and I can't wait to wear it with a petticoat and pink spectator pumps.  I actually intended to bring a petticoat on the trip, but then the logistics of that got to be too much (wearing one on an airplane or on a ride could prove problematic).  I wore this dress when we went to Magic Kingdom (because duh), which was especially fun when we went on the Peter Pan ride!  :)

I apologize for not writing more, but I'm in the midst of of an out-of-town adventure for the weekend!  I hope your weekends are lovely (and hopefully filled with at least a little bit of sunshine -- these photos are making me yearn for warmth!).

Friday Favorites #38

Friday Favorites are back this week -- with a vengeance!  Two of my biggest obsessions lately are novelty purses and monochromic pastels.  Neither of these are especially new obsessions, but I've found myself incorporating them into my outfits way more often these days.  I'm absolutely obsessed with these novelty purses that I found:
1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7

Blush pink will always be one of my favorite colors, and I love when I find novelty purses in the same shade to compliment the pretty, feminine options I often see in this tone!  I actually have the perfume bag below in black (that color is on sale, so I figured I'd snag it), but I think the pink is way prettier.  It comes in a beautiful light blue, too!  Aldo's been killing it with their novelty purses lately (and they've been selling out quite quickly, so I'd say to act fast if you want one)!  And of course, I'm always yearning for spring, and pastel pink is the perfect springy hue.

I love how these boots by Iron Fist have such sweet colors but have a totally gruesome design!  It's such a great juxtaposition (though I don't know if I'd have the *guts* to wear them... tee hee):
But I would love to wear these incredible clip-on earrings (they're made by the same brand as some of the novelty purses above)!  If only they weren't astronomically expensive... The first pair are little champagne bottles and the second are mascara tubes!

And of course, I'm completely enthralled by this telephone skirt (and I caved and ordered it)!  I just hope it's as cute in person!  I have so many telephone accessories with which to wear it... :)
Or maybe I'd pair it with this retro sweater, just for the heck of it:

This little yellow scalloped satchel is SO sweet!

And speaking of sweet, this cropped donut tee takes the cake:

...Or maybe this sweater does:

UNICORN SHOES!!!  I think that's all I need say.

And finally, speaking of shoes... I just love this poster of The Many Shoes of Carrie Bradshaw's Closet!  I'm a stereotypical Sex & the City fan, and I'd definitely be the type to have this hanging up!  You can get it here, along with tons of other great prints!

Have a fantastic Friday!

Bonbons and cupcakes

Outfit Details:
Lilac coat: Linany (old)
Nishe cupcake dress: ASOS (old)
Lilac hat & belt: ASOS (old)
Bonbon Ribbon bag: Sanrio store
Cupcake ring: Claytime Designs
White tights: Target
White boots: eBay

This may be the most costume-y kawaii outfit I've ever worn.  I'm super into color coordinates lately, and I will always find ways to incorporate pastels into my wardrobe.  This new bag was kind of the catalyst for the whole ensemble.  I picked it up at the Orlando airport on our way back from Disney World; it was my first time in a Sanrio store, and I was in heaven!  This bag was marked down pretty significantly, and the pastel pink and lavender color scheme called out to me.  I looked up the little bunny character, Bonbon Ribbon, before writing this post, and I discovered that not only is she a little pink bunny with a bow on her head, but she is a singer and dancer who loves fashion.  I literally could not think of a more fitting little character for me if I tried!  I knew that this cupcake dress would be a perfect fit for the kitschy sweetness of the bag, and since the dress is so springy, this coat had to be paired with it.  Kooky or not, I kind of love it.

I haven't given much of a personal update in a while, I feel like.  I've started rehearsals for the children's theatre show I'm doing, which is fun.  I'm excited to play a fairy, even if I don't get to fly!  I'm working quite a lot (it's subscription renewal season, which is always busy) and trying to muster up the motivation to cross lots of things off my to-do list.  Most importantly, I feel pretty happy these days, and I'm moving on in terms of my love life.  I'm still bothered by a lot of things that have to do with my ex, and I will be the first to admit that I haven't always handled my hurt and frustration with grace, but I've gotten to the point where I no longer want to hold on to any leftover fragments of our relationship.  He'd already taken so much from me and inflicted so much emotional pain, and he doesn't get to do that anymore.  I deserve to be happy, and I am.  I'm going out of town this weekend on a bit of a romantically-inclined adventure, and feeling giddy (and un-haunted by my heartbreak) has been such a welcome change in my life.  :)

Have a wonderful Wednesday!
