Friday Favorites #33: Party Time!

I can scarcely believe that Christmas is only five days away!!  I'm sure a lot of holiday parties have already come and gone, but since I always dress to the nines on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, I thought it would be fun to compile a few little color-coordinated wish lists for things that I'd love to wear for the most wonderful time of the year!

Of course, red is a very traditional choice for these wintery holidays, but I have to say that I really love the resurgence in the emerald to forest green tones for this whole season.  I learned on an episode Project Runway last week that green simply doesn't "sell" (in terms of magazine covers), but I think it's such a stunning choice!  I may be totally biased though, since I wore a green dress in Wednesday's blog post, and it may be my favorite holiday dress ever.  Here are some other great green garments:

Finally, I absolutely adore winter white.  I think it's incredibly classy, and it can be worn for both Christmas and New Year's Eve.  I am a staunch believer that white can be worn any time of year (that no-white-after-Labor-Day thing is just nonsense), and it'll make you look positively angelic!  Here are some of my favorite snow-colored pieces:

I also desperately want to make these gingerbread house spiked holiday milkshakes this week!

And aren't these Olympia Le-Tan clutches incredible?!

Well... I'm off to gorge myself on peppermint bark (if you're in the market for some, Williams-Sonoma's is the absolute best -- and it's 20% off right now!).  :)

Have a great Friday!

Haul out the holly

Outfit Details:
Dress: ModCloth (old, similar here)
Dream of the Crop Cardigan: ModCloth (old)
Coat: ModCloth (old, similar here)
Snowflake necklace: Forever Bella Jewelry
Bracelet: American Eagle (old)
Bow headband: Kohl's (old)
Boots: Ugg brand (old)

Full disclosure: this is kind of a photo-heavy post!  Sorry!  I just love rediscovering items in my closet.  This dress was one of those forgotten ones in the way back.  I hadn't worn it since last Christmas, but since last night was the holiday party for the orchestra I work for, I was so glad I finally had another occasion for which I could dust it off.  My mom and I both work for the orchestra (she does public relations work for them, and I work in the box office), so I ended up going with my parents for a little while.  There weren't a ton of people I knew there (the box office is kind of its own little world, separate from the administrative offices), but I had fun -- despite the fact I generally hate mingling and am honestly still a kind of shy person at heart.

I'm so enchanted with this little snowflake necklace from Forever Bella Jewelry!  Although I tend to love loud prints and over-the-top kitschiness, I actually gravitate towards daintier jewelry.  I was searching for something simple and seasonal, and this delicate little snowflake necklace caught my eye.  It's even daintier in person than I thought it'd be, which was a welcome surprise.  There are tons of adorable little necklaces in this shop, and the shipping was incredibly fast!

I feel very "ugh" towards these Uggs.  They're old (and kind of a ubiquitous sight, here in this frozen tundra of a place), and I would never buy them now, but they are warm and durable.  I've ruined enough pairs of shoes by now that I need to wear unfashionable boots when the snow piles up like this.  Luckily, these don't look totally offensive with this outfit, but here are the shoes I *actually* wore to the party -- a big improvement, I think.  They're from ModCloth (no longer available, sadly).

Side note: found a place in my room where the lighting isn't completely horrible!

I can hardly believe that Christmas is a week away!  I have to finish wrapping a few gifts (and I always feel that I haven't gotten enough for people), and we have to do some baking, and cleaning, of course.  But our holiday is always pretty low key -- which I've come to enjoy.  I always get dressed up for Christmas Eve, but we never even leave the house!  I'll use any excuse to get dolled up.  :)

Have a great Wednesday!

Today, I'm super excited to announce that I'm hosting a giveaway with the lovely Crissy of Silent Daisy (though you may know her from her blog, Dainty Fawn -- formerly called Candypow)!  For those of you who don't know her, Crissy is a stellar photographer, graphic designer and blogger, who also runs Silent Daisy -- an adorable Etsy shop that specializes in pre-made Blogger templates, pre-made logos, graphic design and more.   All of Crissy's pre-made templates are incredibly clean and pretty, and they're perfect for bloggers who need to give their blog a little bit of an overhaul (and for a VERY affordable price).  When Crissy asked on Instagram if anyone would be interested in running a giveaway for her Blogger templates, I immediately jumped at the chance!  Not only are her pre-made templates adorable, but I've always found Crissy to be such a kind, supportive and wonderfully artistic person that I wanted to have the opportunity to work with her!

Under the pink

Outfit Details:
Vintage pastel plaid dress: Crush Vintage Candy
Pink bow back sweatshirt: Forever 21 (similar here)
Dance Instead of Walking Heels in Cream: ModCloth
White tights: ModCloth (similar here)
Birthday cake ring: Le Petite Bonbon

I wish I had remembered to repaint my nails before taking these!

This dress happens to be one of my all-time favorites.  I had been looking everywhere for a pastel plaid dress, and this one from Crush Vintage Candy kept popping up in my searches.  It was listed as a size small, so I didn't even bother to look at the detailed listing... but then I finally did, and realized that I might just fit into it.  It was a totally reasonable price for such an adorable dress, so I bought it and was SO happy that I did.  I can't get over the adorable detailing on the collar, or the fact that it came with the most perfect peach belt I've ever seen.  I wore this on my blog (under more summery circumstances) back in May (see that post here), and I didn't realize 'til now how short this dress actually is on me... but I was still determined to remix it for colder weather, so I tried the sweater trick.  I think it worked out pretty well, though I still like the dress by itself best.  :)

I'm not exactly sure what I'll be doing this weekend (other than working).  I'm still feeling under the weather, though I've been basically assured that it isn't strep, and that it's most likely something viral -- which kind of sucks, since that just means it has to run its course.  I've been on a pretty steady regimen of Advil, since my throat feels like it's swollen shut, and that is the only thing that helps.  That, and mint chocolate chip ice cream.  Those are the medicines I swear by.

Have a super Saturday!
