Petticoat junction

Outfit Details:
Virginia Dress: eShakti
Red belt: Pinup Girl Clothing (sold out)
Petticoat: eBay
White flats: yeswalker
Heart necklace: ASOS (sold out)

Oh, eShakti, how I love thee.

I actually scored this dress from eShakti's overstock section.  They make it super easy to search for pieces in your size at discounted prices.  Most of all, I love eShakti because of their amazing customization options!  I think it's pretty amazing that they give such accurate measurements for sizes, and that you can provide your exact measurements so they can make a dress that's specially made just for you!  Sometimes sizing can be really difficult when shopping online, and eShakti has truly made it a breeze.  I also love that you can have pocket, sleeve, neckline and hemline customization for an incredibly reasonable price.  I can't think of any other company that does that.

This dress turned out to be a little longer than I'd expected (though if I'd ordered it at full price, I would have been able to customize that!), but it's perfect with a petticoat underneath.  This outfit turned out to be really patriotic-looking - whoops!  Maybe I'll wear it for the fourth of July or something.

Whoops, upside down necklace.  I still like the picture.

Is anyone really surprised that I own this dress?  It's the perfect whimsical novelty print, and I'm all about a good fit & flare dress -- it's universally flattering!

This adorable cotton candy necklace is the perfect complement for a circus-themed dress, no?

Swimming with the fishes

Outfit Details:
What A Catch Bra Top and Skirt: Bettie Page
Necklace: Forever 21
Octopus ring: ModCloth (free with purchase)

This outfit has been waiting in my closet since the winter to be worn.  It still isn't really warm enough to wear it yet, but I want real summer so badly that I couldn't wait any longer!

I'd never have purchased this ring myself, but for a free gift, I'll take it!  It goes well with nautical things, so I can't really complain (except octopi kind of freak me out just a little bit, honestly).

I daringly tried to set the timer and get pictures in my creek, but it was a huge failure.  I hurt my ankle a little and almost lost my flip flop, and I got zero usable pictures, so that was a bust.  I need to recruit a photographer for something like that, and find a better spot that isn't so rocky and that doesn't have a strong current (the spot was further down the creek than this picture shows).

Hope your Monday goes swimmingly!

High Tea

Outfit Details:
High Socie-tea Dress: ModCloth
Only a Pastry Pin (worn on belt): ModCloth
Teaset ring: Ever Ours (sold out, available here)
White belt: from another dress
White flats: ASOS

I'm pretty obsessed with this print, for obvious reasons.  I have so many tea-related things!  I do drink quite a lot of tea, and I also think that I have a very romanticized notion of a proper British tea.  We don't have that as a regular part of our culture in America, so the whenever I've gone to a teahouse, it's always very special.  And whenever I watch Downton Abbey, an Agatha Christie program[me] or a Jane Austen adaptation, I feel the need for clotted cream, a scone and a cup of Earl Grey.

I do think this dress is just a *tad* long, upon seeing these pictures.  It doesn't look too long when I look at it in the mirror, but it's basically a true tea-length (how appropriate), and while that gives it a more vintage feel, I wish it had enough fabric to be able to wear a petticoat with it.  Otherwise, it kind of just looks like it needs to be taken up a bit.  Something to consider for the future, maybe.

I love this brooch but never seem to wear it.  I think it looks best on a cardigan with a dress, and I couldn't find a cardigan that looked good with this one (and I didn't want to cover up the print).  This dress needed a belt, so I thought the brooch would be the perfect touch on that instead.

Have a lovely Sunday!
