Come Sail Away: a Lalamagic outfit post

Outfit Details:
Simply Nautical Dress: Lalamagic
Wide red belt: Pinup Girl Clothing
Professor of Pop Flat: ModCloth
Anchor bracelet: ModCloth (free with purchase)

I adore this little sailor dress from adorable vintage-inspired boutique, Lalamagic!  When Gracelys, the lovely lady behind Lalamagic, reached out to me to see if I wanted to become an affiliate for her online shop, I jumped at the chance!  They carry such adorable items - everything from dresses with novelty cupcake prints to cat jewelry and detachable scalloped collars.  And I am always a fan of companies who offer free worldwide shipping AND free returns and exchanges!!  I'm truly touched that Gracelys would personally reach out to me -- she is a total sweetheart!

I ended up wearing this outfit for our belated 4th of July party this past Saturday.  This dress made me feel so special and patriotic, but doesn't feel costume-y in the slightest.  It's the perfect balance for someone who loves to have a theme to her outfits, like I do!  And I absolutely love the sheer hem with the ric-rac trim!  And the collar!  I'm gushing.

Gracelys is so sweet, in fact, that she is offering you, my wonderful readers, a fabulous 15% discount on anything in the Lalamagic shop!  Just use the code soubrette at check-out!  This code is valid only until July 15th, so I hope you find some vintage-inspired lovelies to use it on!  Thank you, Gracelys!!

I'm still drooling over some more items from Lalamagic - and this dress is just one of three pieces that I purchased.  I also have a pair of adorable hippie-inspired shorts, and a goooorgeous light lilac dress that I cannot wait to show you!  I also think their size chart is adorable; instead of listing conventional sizes, they're named after female cultural icons, like Twiggy and Audrey Hepburn.

If you enjoy my sense of style, I think you'll really like the pieces that Lalamagic carries!  Which item is your favorite in the shop?  I'd love to hear your feedback in the comments!  And don't forget to use the code soubrette for 15% off (and if you do get something, tell me what it was so I can live vicariously through you, hehe)!  :)

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Up, up and away

Outfit Details:
Summer Skies Dress: eBay (on sale thru Sugarhill Boutique's site!)
My Fair Lacy Flats: ModCloth (no longer available)
Large wicker purse: from Cara's moving sale
Hot air balloon necklace: gift from Abby and David (similar here)
Carousel ring: Miss Selfridge (sold out)
Half-slip: Mom's

I'd forgotten that I hadn't worn this dress on my blog yet.  Clearly, I have a thing for hot air balloons (this makes two dresses, two tops, and two necklaces with hot air balloons on them!).  And this beautiful necklace (a sweet and generous gift from my cousins, Abby and David) is absolutely perfect with it!  Even the colors match!

I also have a thing for carousels.

I found a bunch of wild raspberries growing in my yard!!!  We used to have a bunch on a hill by our driveway, but my mom got rid of them so she could garden there.  I was really upset about it at the time, since I used to pick berries and eat them a lot.  Imagine my surprise upon finding these in a bunch of spots in the back!  I want to pick them.

I grabbed this new wicker purse on a whim as I was heading outside.  I love that it's bigger than my other one (the inside is green and white gingham checks!).  In retrospect, I realized that it could represent the basket of the hot air balloon.  That definitely wasn't my thought at the time, but it's funny how you subconsciously decide what goes well with an outfit.

Obsessed.

I really love this print, too.  I wish it were a little longer, though.  My slip was unintentionally showing in a lot of these pictures!

Like this one, for example.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  My Sunday was pretty busy (we had to pick up our dog from our boarder's house - and omg I saw the cutest lab puppies ever - and we had lunch with my aunt, and then went to see my dad's band play), so I didn't get a chance to post yesterday.  Our family party on Saturday was pretty crazy, but it was wonderful to see my extended family.  I'll post pictures from what I wore during the week - and I'll have a special surprise along with them!

Have a great Monday!

All aboard!

Outfit Details:
Trains Scoop Neck Dress: Cath Kidston (sold out)
Wide red belt: Pinup Girl Clothing
Kimchi Blue T-Strap Skimmers: Urban Outfitters (now half price!!)
Grandma readers: Urban Outfitters
JumpFromPaper Travel Fever bag (knock-off): AliExpress (try eBay or the original)
Watch ring: Mom's

First things first... the bag.  JumpFromPaper bags look really neat in person, but they photograph even better!  I really love this one.  I feel like a bad person because I've bought both of my JumpFromPaper(-esque) bags from eBay type sites - and I know neither is actually the real deal.  They're really similar to the real thing, but there are subtle differences with the decorative aspects (especially on the suitcase one).  Unfortunately, real JumpFromPaper bags are pretty pricy, and even though I want to support businesses like theirs, I'm also a selfish American who wants cool features at cheap prices.  So eBay and AliExpress (the latter of which you should use at your own risk - I had a fine experience, but many do not) won out in the end.

The print of this dress is so charming.  I feel like I need to be going on a trip whenever I wear it.

I feel like it's kind of okay for me to wear obviously-fake glasses because I actually do wear glasses/contacts.  Maybe not as tooly.  Maybe.

We're having a bunch of extended family over today for a belated July 4th celebration while my grandma is still in town.  Patriotic pictures will be forthcoming.

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Happy 4th!

Outfit Details:
Gingham dress: Forever 21 (and Forever 21+ version here)
Necklace: Forever 21 (old)
Wicker purse: Chicwish
White flats: yeswalker
Charm bracelet: Mom's

Okay, I will admit it: this is not what I'm actually wearing today.  I took these photos last week when I had some downtime.  My truly patriotic outfit is reserved for our party on Saturday, so I will be taking photos of that and sharing them later.  This was the most patriotic outfit I had in the set of photos I took in advance.  So you will just have to wait for more Americana attire.

Also, these were a weird set of photos.  I really didn't like many of them at all.  Usually I have a problem with not being able to narrow down photos, but I had the opposite problem with these.  Which kind of makes me think I don't love this dress.  It's cute, but it's one of those dresses that I'm just not in love with.  Fine for casual, everyday wear.  But not for special things, I don't think.

I do love this charm bracelet, though!  It was my mom's, and before that I think (?) it may have originally belonged to my grandma.  The charms are hard to see, but they're so adorable.  One of them is a water well with a little handle!

I think we're going downtown to see fireworks tonight and hear the RPO play, if the weather holds up! Not the most exciting 4th of July, but at least I'll be with my family.  :)

Have a wonderful holiday!
