Fairytale

Well, it's officially winter here! We finally got some snow, and I'm sure more is on the way. I don't mind a little bit of cold weather, but my fingers are crossed that this winter won't be anywhere near as awful as it was last year. Luckily, I have pretty dresses to get me through. As soon as I saw the sneak peeks of this Bernie Dexter Rococo print dress, I knew it belonged on my body. Plus, it pairs perfectly with this enchanted carriage brooch from Deer Arrow and my new Miss L-Fire boots!

This week is going to be a bit hectic, as we're in the midst of rehearsals for the show we're putting together with 1 week of rehearsals. It's going to be really fun though (it's such a cute little play), and a really great challenge. My best friend (who's also directing the show) and I did a little interview on TV for it last week, so I'm hoping both the response and turn-out for the show will be good. (If you're interested in watching it, you can find it here!) In general, there are a few really fun things coming up for me, which definitely makes the winter a bit more bearable.

I may be more inclined towards kookier prints, but goodness, I do love a good tartan. Although I'm a bit of an ethnic mutt (in case you've ever wondered, I'm Polish, German, Swedish, Welsh, French, and possibly Scottish), I've always felt a connection to the Celtic nations and the UK. At least I can sort of pretend I'm from somewhere else in this skirt! I'd been wanting this colorway from British Retro for about a year, and I finally took the plunge. I originally wanted the dress, but since I've been embracing the idea of separates as of late, I went for the skirt instead. It's a bit longer than I'd like (I can't imagine how long it'd be on someone shorter than I), but I could always get it hemmed at a later date. Otherwise, it's a really high-quality piece that makes for a great addition to my fall and winter wardrobe. The skirt doesn't seem to be currently available, but there are other colorways too.

I have one more week of relative free time, and then things are going to get very busy again. I'm doing this lovely little play in mid-January (it goes up with just one week of rehearsals, which will be a fun challenge), and then I'll be going right into rehearsals for a children's theatre show. Although I sometimes complain, I find that I'm better off when I'm busy. When left to my own devices, I'm not anywhere near as productive. I guess hitting the ground running is a good way to start off the new year!

Girl Squad: Virtual Christmas Party

Continuing with my holiday outfit theme, our girl squad is styling some adorable wintertime brooches from Deer Arrow in our group post for today! We each styled a different brooch and decided to glam it up a bit with our outfit choices – it's like we're having a virtual Christmas party! This dress from Unique Vintage is so darling – I really love the neckline and the sweet snowflake print. I just wish there had been a little bit of snow on the ground to complement it. So far, no snow yet. Although I'm sure I'll gripe about the never-ending snow later on this season, I can't help but wish for a white Christmas... even if it does mean I can't wear cute shoes anymore!
