Sweetie

gal meets glam colleen dress

If you've followed me for a while, you'll know what a sucker I am for anything novelty. Even as I get a little older, I can't quite give up the kitschiest, campiest parts of my wardrobe. It's a good thing that there are a lot of other people who feel the same way I do – and that Vendula London keeps on making the most adorable bags for me to lust after.

I've reviewed other handbags from Vendula in the past (see those posts here) and have been a fan of their brand for the past few years, so I was thrilled when they sent me this fun box bag to review from their "Sweetie Caravan" line. The design features a retro camper filled with candies and sweets (wouldn't you like to have one of those in real life?). There's even a little corgi inside waiting to greet you! It's surprisingly roomy inside and the lining has a macaron print. The attention to detail is, as always, so impressive. While I chose to hold this purse by its handle, there's also a long, detachable shoulder strap that makes the bag a bit more practical.

These vegan(!) handbags are designed in London, but I'm so glad I've been able to get a few of them across the pond to me. Even better was the fact that this bag matched one of my Gal Meets Glam dresses perfectly. Although this style is no longer available, GMG just launched its May collection yesterday and I'm eyeing at least one dress from it. If you've been waiting to try these dresses, I seriously can't recommend them enough. Some of my GMG dresses from last year are actually a bit big on me now, but they're such nice quality that I will probably try to get them altered just so I can hold onto them – that's how much I love them!

Slap and Tickle

trashy diva slap and tickle

It's pretty rare that I come across a unicorn – but when I do, it's pretty extraordinary. Trashy Diva's "Slap and Tickle" print is among the most-coveted (at least, it always has been for me) and it's been tough to find a style from this collection that I like and that actually fits. This style initially had long sleeves, but I ended up taking it to my friend to have them removed. She did an outstanding job. Not only am I excited that I can now wear this dress throughout the year, but I love that I now have a piece that's totally one of a kind.

Such a special dress requires only the most special of accessories. This feather headband is the perfect match for the blush pink, and it's just the right amount of playful. And speaking of special and playful... nothing will EVER top this purse. I love so many Vendula London unique bags, but their "Cinema" range has got to be one of my favorites. Not only is this design totally adorable and convertible, but... IT LIGHTS UP! It's such a great piece for an unforgettable night out.

Black Dresses and Kitschy Bags

black scalloped dress ouges

By now, most of you know that I love outfits that are filled with kitsch. I can't resist a good theme or novelty bag! But while my personal aesthetic tends to veer on costume-y, I realize that it's not always practical for everyday wear. However, I think today's outfit proves that you can incorporate kitschy elements into an otherwise classic & conservative look.

First, let's talk about this dress! When I first saw this OUGES dress on Amazon, I wasn't quite sure what it'd look like (or how it'd fit) in real life. However, the plethora of positive reviews and affordable price tag won me over, so I decided to try it out, along with another dress from their online store. Upon receiving them, I was so pleasantly surprised by the fit and quality. Due to the ample stretch of the material, I had more than enough room (I could have possibly sized down to a medium, rather than my normal large). It's definitely one of the more comfortable dresses I own! I really love the scalloped neckline, and the 3/4-length sleeves have come in handy during these cold winter days. It's a nice length too, which can also be a concern with certain dresses you find on Amazon. If you're looking for a cute and versatile LBD that fits in your budget, this one should definitely be a contender.

While I wouldn't normally wear such a plain dress with a purse like this, I think it does illustrate my point: that novelty purses – like one of the Vendula London unique bags I'm styling here – can work with all sorts of outfits. In fact, they often work better when they can be the star of the outfit, since the overall effect isn't overpowering. This diner purse gives the perfect pop to my outfit, and the details are amazing. I styled another Vendula London bag last spring for my Easter post, and the quality is always superb. I went with a smaller, cross-body style this time, and I absolutely love it. There's enough room for all the necessities but it's still the perfect going-out bag. Even the lining is adorable! I love this entire range of Vendula London creative bags, but all of their collections are so much fun.

Easter Bunny

pinup girl clothing kristina dress

Happy Easter! I don't post a lot on weekends anymore, but this outfit was just too perfect for the holiday! Corduroy doesn't exactly scream "spring," but I'd been looking for this older Pinup Girl Clothing dress forever (three cheers for eBay!), and it pairs so well with my delicious accessories: this amazing chocolate shop bag from Vendula London and my chocolate-scented(!) Easter Bunny brooch by Kate Gabrielle!

I'm always a sucker for novelty accessories (especially ones that are food-themed), so when I received this incredible chocolatier purse from Vendula London unique bags, I jumped for joy. The attention to detail is absolutely exquisite (even the back is adorable!), and I can't think of a better bag for someone with such a highly-developed sweet tooth like mine. It's incredibly roomy, which makes it a surprisingly practical choice, and it also comes with a long, cross-body strap (which I chose not to use here). It's a truly special handbag, and it's one that I will treasure for a long time.

I nearly lost my candy-loving mind when I saw that Kate was making these resin bunny brooches. Talk about attention to detail – not only does the brown resin look exactly like chocolate, but Kate was also clever enough to make them scented (they smell just like those scented Valentines), and the brooch even comes with a cheeky "DO NOT EAT" warning sticker on the back! I think it tops off this outfit in the cutest yet subtlest way.

Although I'm Jewish, Easter is always a really fun holiday for me. I still get an Easter basket (thanks, Mama Bunny!), and my mom usually makes a nice family dinner. I think we're having my favorite sweet treat for breakfast, too – orange rolls! And as long as I see some Reese's eggs in my basket, I'll be a very happy girl. What are some of your favorite Easter treats?
