ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday memory is also apart of one of my saddest. Days earlier a close friend of mine passed away. I was stuck in bed for days crushed by sadness. My now husband kept trying to get me to come over to celebrate my birthday. When I finally got myself over there days later he had an entire room filled with at that point half dead flowers and half deflated balloons and in the middle was a painting he made for me as a gift. It was so heartwarming & my favorite gift and memory❤️

I had a birthday /welcome home party after being away from NYC for a year due to severe mental and physical health problems. So many of my friends came to celebrate me and I we had the most amazing chocolate cake that was free from gluten, dairy, and soy (I'm intolerant). Anyway I really love my friends/chosen family!

ReplyDeleteWhen I was 9, my mum made me a cake of a lady in a crinoline dress and holding a paper cocktail umbrella as a parasol. My nan went to light the candles around the cake and accidentally set fire to the cocktail umbrella. We had to quickly throw lemonade on the cake to put it out. Everyone laughed so much. It was a brilliant moment.

I've never made a big deal of my birthday, even as a child it didn't excite me because it's close to Christmas. On year though, I received a bike and I was so happy, (until I swerved to avoid my cat and went over the handlebars!)

ReplyDeleteI showed up at a charter on the Oregon Coast, ready to fish for my birthday but the rest of the passengers called and cancelled. They took me out anyway. I was the fishing princess for the day. Luckily I use that charter quite a bit or that would never have happened.
