Bunny hop

Outfit Details:
Jenny Dress in Lavender Sateen: Pinup Girl Clothing
Bunny necklace: ASOS (old)
White cardigan: Target
White flats: similar here

This is what I ended up wearing on Easter Sunday.  I couldn't post the pictures before this because of my computer problem (which ended up NOT being the hard drive!  It was a problem with the internal cable that connects to the hard drive, which means I didn't lose any of my stuff, thank goodness!) and my mini-"vacation," so hopefully no one minds that I'm posting them a few weeks late.  I have a plethora of pastel dresses in my closet that seem very Easter-appropriate, but this dress was perfect for the warm weather -- plus, it goes perfectly with my little bunny necklace!

I'm not sure why, but I've found that the few dresses I own from Pinup Girl Clothing fit a little strangely on me.  They are difficult for me to zip in the waist (and are sort of tight), but fit a little loosely in the bust -- which is kind of rare, for me.  I wonder if I did tight-lacing or something if the fit would be better.  It's something I've been a bit interested in since I read Amanda's posts about it on her blog, but I'm not sure it's something I could truly commit to.  Perhaps something to keep in mind for the future, though.  I do like this dress better with a petticoat, but since my mom and I went to see Phantom of the Opera on the day I wore this, I felt like it would be overkill (plus, theater seats are notoriously small, and thus do not mix well with crinolines).  Sometimes I wish it was socially-acceptable (and expected) for women to wear things like petticoats and bustles and hats and gloves... people don't even dress up for the theatre anymore!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

  1. This is such a cute dress, I love the sillouhette. Also the necklace is just perfect for Easter. Such a shame that you find issues with their dresses, I've been wanting to try Pinup Girl Clothing but first need to decide on a dress. Do you have any suggestions? There's many times I find myself wishing it was the norm for women to dress up, I'm sick of hearing from people "Why are you so dressed up" when I'm just wearing a dress that truly isn't a big deal.

    1. Hi, Justine! I honestly think it has to do with my particular proportions. I own another of the Jenny dresses (the one in Neverland print), and although it's still difficult to zip over the waist seam, I find it fits better than this one, for some reason. Their size charts are pretty accurate, though. I heard the "why are you so dressed up?" thing ALL the time, especially when I first started blogging and was making an effort to wear my dresses more. I just want to feel good and pretty and dress how I feel on the inside -- what's so wrong with that? I think people are too casual these days, sometimes. I like wearing jeans too, but it surprises me what people will wear to functions. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way! <3

  2. Yes please! Can I just wear my crinoline and not get gawked at? I wish I could just "dress up" without other people making me feel strange. I've thought about tight lacing before too, but I had to be honest with myself and know that I would probably be too forgetful or lazy to commit. I've never bought any PUG clothing myself because I just can't bring myself to do it, but posts like this make me wish I would. This dress is darling on you! I especially love purples on you.. I generally think of you and think of purples (is that weird?) and the necklace is just too cute <3

  4. I just purchased the Jenny dress in neverland, and I was surprised how hard it was to zip up at my waist, which is proportionately much smaller than the rest of my measurements. I think what I've realized, that at least on me, it sits lower than other dresses "at the waist", and my measurements are larger lower and I was going based of the higher, and smaller, waisted measurements.

  5. I think it is fun to dress up for the theater!

How odd about their clothing- I've only gotten a skirt from there, which fits fine (but then you are only measuring for one thing.)

  6. Oh girl. I understand the not dressing up thing. I live in a town where dressed up is jeans and a North Face fleece. People wear yoga pants and Uggs to five star restaurants here. They look at me like I'm insane! My Jenny dress fits me a little oddly too, but I love the pattern so much I ignore it. ;)

  9. Get outta here with that Jenny dress! Lavender is my favorite color but I still don't know which one I want to order. I'm a little weary about the sizing as well. I have an extra large bust because of breastfeeding (size M) but a smaller waist (size S). Soooo I'm a little scared. I think this looks perfect on you though!

I tried to wear a "belly band" after I gave birth (it's exactly like a corset) and I just hated it. I found it to be super uncomfortable and sweaty. But I'd definitely give it a try and see for yourself. You might like it!
