I think it's an unwritten rule that every twee, kitschy or retro blogger has to have this dress (or at least must have it on her wish list).  It had been out of stock for the longest time, and I ordered it the day it came back in stock.  It really is one of my most treasured dresses (though I do wish it were slightly more forgiving on top -- this fabric has ZERO stretch to it!).  I always end up wearing it the same way, though (see how else I've worn it here), and I wanted to figure out a way to remix it and give it some longevity.  Because it's sleeveless, it's too tricky for a pinafore (though if I had a long enough skirt, it'd be great underneath as a button-down top -- next time!), so I went scrounging for a sweater or top to layer over it.  I remembered I had this cheap 3/4-sleeved tee from Forever 21 lying around, and it happens to match the darker teal of the pie tins perfectly.  I just rolled it up a little and put a belt over it, and presto -- a whole new way to wear this kooky dress!

I wish I could have worn different shoes with this, though.  We were having a spring-like thaw when I took these, but the snow wasn't melted nearly enough to wear something other than boots!  I already have spring fever, which is unfortunate, seeing as we have at least another month of cold, snowy weather ahead of us here.  Patience is not my strong suit.

I'm off to see the tour of American Idiot tonight!  Two of my friends from college are in it, and I'm super excited to see them.  I hope you have a great Thursday!

  1. You look so pretty like always! I love the skirt, very sweet.

  2. This is my favorite way to remix dresses! I'm always throwing tops over them so they turn into cute skirts instead. I looove how you did it with the collar and everything.

  3. Love this remix! This is my most favourite dress. I've gotten the hang of remixing it fairly well, because I want to wear it so often!

  4. I think you're definitely right about this dress being a must have.. I've been pining for it for awhile now myself. I love the way you remixed it, especially with that adorable ring <3

  5. Ohhh this dress is gorgeous, love the cupcake/pie print on it! And the sweater over top is the perfect colour, such a great combination :) I love finding new ways to wear much loved pieces

  6. The print on that dress is adorable! As is the rest of the outfit as well. :)

    decked out in ruffles

  7. Hello,Ciao...what a stunning Pin-up look! Great look,charming colours...each photo is as beautiful as a painting

  8. I think I love this dress more in this combination that as the dress alone. I have to do the same with my jumpers as you did here, roll them up a little to make them OK to go over dresses.

Definitely more of a spring outfit, but who says winter isn't the time for spring-wear!

  9. YOUR RING!!!! OMG! I love the skirt, too! I've never heard of American Idiot, but have you heard of An Idiot Abroad? I've been obsessing over that show on netflix !

    love, polly :)
