Friday Favorites #91

Happy Friday, everyone! I've found lots of things to love this week. Although spring isn't in full bloom here yet (it actually snowed yesterday – the horror!), I'm already dreaming of hot summer days. I'm very prone to dressing thematically, so I'm starting off this week's post with some wonderful watermelon pieces:

I'm generally a big fan of fruit prints, so it should come as no surprise that I also love these strawberry pieces. The first dress is currently sold out (sob), but there's good news: it also comes in a playsuit version that just arrived!

Talk of strawberries has me thinking of ice cream, and I'm really into these ice cream dishes:

It's nearly picnic weather, and I'd really love to get one of these all-inclusive picnic baskets one day!

These little paper boat bags are darling!

I don't exactly need any new swimsuits for summer, but these three are tempting me! The two-piece is a teacup print!!

How perfect are these B.A.I.T. heels?? They're serving pastel mermaid realness. (Can you tell I've been watching too much RuPaul's Drag Race recently?)

Saturated plaids always say "summer" to me. This Kitten D'Amour dress is absolutely beautiful and is such a great summer dress:

I like for my dresses to have interesting necklines (just like the dress above), so naturally, I also adore theses three cherry dresses:

I love this collection of flower fields! I want to go to all of them.

The brooches from Deer Arrow are always so darling, and I have at least five on my wish list at all times. Here are a few I'm swooning over:

Even though I love pastels and bright colors for spring and summer, I've gotten more into black + white lately (especially when gingham and polka dots are involved):

This immersive production of Alice's Adventures Underground in London looks incredible.

And speaking of Alice, the Queen of Hearts dress from Pinup Girl inspired me to find some other Wonderland-themed accessories:

Is anyone as excited as I am about the ever-growing cast for the new Beauty and the Beast movie? Emma Thompson, Audra McDonald, Kevin Kline and now Stanley Tucci?  How much better can this get!?

And finally... Amy Schumer is a perfect human being.

Have a great Friday!

Dahlias + Leopard Spots || Unique Vintage Style Society

This is my second outfit post I've done as part of the Unique Vintage Style Society, and I'm a bit excited about it because this ensemble is a bit different from what I normally wear on my blog. I'd been looking for a versatile LBD that could be dressed up or down, and this black dress definitely fits the bill. I normally look for a longer hemline, but I like that this dress can transition through the seasons and isn't pigeonholed into one particular style. I opted to wear it with a new-to-me cardigan, dahlia hair flower and my Melissa jelly wedges, but I can already envision 20 other ways to remix this dress. I actually enjoyed the fact that this outfit is a bit more casual and practical than what I usually pick; it's refreshing to venture outside your comfort zone every now and then! From retro clothing to classic LBDs, Unique Vintage always has such great options.

I had the hardest time coming up with a title for this post. Normally, post titles come to me pretty quickly (sometimes I even think of them when I'm taking the photos), but this one had me stumped. Full credit goes to Amanda on this one. Aside from the #iamunique Style Society, I'm very lucky to have been a part of several little "societies" of bloggers I adore. It's been such fun to be a part of Flock Together (sadly, that blog will likely be shutting down in the near future), and I'm really grateful for my little girl gang of bloggers. We talk constantly, and it's kind of magical how deeply you can connect with people you've never meet in real life. As irritating as the internet can be at times, I'm still in awe of the sense of community and connection it can provide.

Have a great Tuesday!

Some other spring

vintage dress

I am seriously so happy it's finally spring. Winter seemed to last forever this year, and it was colder than even my parents remember it ever being. But little spring flowers are starting to spring up – crocuses, snowdrops and daffodils are finally waking up, and it's such a sight for sore eyes. This springy vintage dress (a permanent swap from sweet Elana) always makes me happy, and I thought it'd be the perfect thing to wear now that spring has finally arrived.

In other news, my new job working for my mom has been going well so far! I'm really enjoying working from home, and I'm feeling really good about my decision. It was definitely time to try something different, and it's fortunate that she and I are so close (and we work well together). I've been working on her website and helping with some press releases and proposals, which has been pretty enjoyable. My work load is admittedly kind of light right now since I have a lot to learn, but I'm feeling really positive about the whole thing.

Friday Favorites #90

It's Friday again, and I'm thoroughly enjoying the springy weather here. Here are some of my favorite finds from this past week, starting with something I'm already dreaming about: swimsuits!

It can't get much better than novelty print retro swimwear, in my opinion. Hell Bunny has just started making bathing suits(!), and I'm dying for their seahorse printed ones. I also really love this watering can printed swimsuit from ModCloth.

This jellyfish print dress is electrifyingly cute:

This nail polish novelty purse is so much fun!

I adore this new style of scottie dog dress that Hell Bunny just released:

I don't think I can justify another new pair of glasses, but this Skunkboy + BonLook collaboration makes adding another pair to my collection all too tempting. I'm especially taken with the pink frames!

I really love the idea of this outfit. This Voodoo Vixen dress is so sweet, and I love this boater hat from Pinup Girl Clothing. I'm a sucker for a real wicker bag, but this faux wicker tote is a great practical substitute!

Betsey Johnson just released a bunch of darling daisy jewelry:

I can't believe I forgot to post this flower cart dress from Tatyana! It may or may not be currently hanging in my closet...

I could never afford the pretty Kate Spade version of this purse, so this Aldo purse might have to do:

Florals Galore || Unique Vintage Blog

Spring has finally sprung here in Rochester, so it's high time to break out my floral print dresses! Personally, I'm of the mind that floral prints can be worn at any time of year, but there is something that feels so much cheerier about wearing them when everything is starting to bloom. I'm sharing some of my favorite florals over on the Unique Vintage blog today, and sharing a few tips for making the most out of your floral frocks and pretty prints.  Follow me over to Unique Vintage, won't you?

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

GIVEAWAY with Hey Viv! [CLOSED]

I know Sundays can sometimes be a downer since they signal the end of a weekend, but I have something to up your spirits today: a giveaway! I've partnered up with Hey Viv!, an adorable online boutique that specializes in providing retro clothing and costumes for spend-thrifty gals. Hey Viv! carries some of my favorite retro reproduction brands – like Hell Bunny, Heart of Haute, Sourpuss and Folter – and they have their own line of products, as well. The white peasant top I'm wearing in these photos is from their own clothing line, and you can enter to win one yourself!

I admittedly have a difficult time with incorporating separates into my wardrobe; I usually just opt for a dress for both ease and cost. But when Hey Viv! asked if I'd like to try one of their peasant tops, I jumped at the chance so I could pair it with this skirt. I think I've only worn it once or twice before, due to the fact that I don't have many things to go with it, so this top is a great addition to my wardrobe. Peasant tops are a great staple for pinup looks, and they've become more popular as of late. These look great with a full circle skirt, and I love that they can be worn both traditionally and off-the-shoulder! I thought the white would be a bit more versatile for my needs, but I adore the bubblegum pink color option, as well.  Not only will the winner of this giveaway win a Hey Viv! peasant top in the color and size of her choice, but she'll also receive a great accessory prize package! Read on for more details and enter to win!

Friday Favorites #89

Happy Friday, kiddos! I've been acclimating to my new job this week, and so far, I'm really loving working from home. I'm starting to realize that I probably thrive in less conventional work environments -- but only time will tell. Either way, the change of pace has been really refreshing... just like these springy picks from this week:

Has anyone been watching Better Call Saul? I was always a big fan of Breaking Bad, and I loved the first season of this show. (I also may or may not have a strange crush on Bob Odenkirk.) I took notice of a bunch of these Breaking Bad references in this spin-off, but I didn't notice all of them!

That's all for this week! Have a great Friday!
