Allsorts of fun

Outfit Details:
Dress (by Yumi): ModCloth
Cropped green cardigan: H&M (old)
Macaron ring: ASOS (sold out, similar here)
Black flats: jcpenney

I haven't worn this dress since this past winter (I wore it when we went to see The Nutcracker -- I thought the candy print was totally apropos for the occasion), so I thought it was about time to put it to use.  For some reason, I can't seem to find this dress anywhere on the internet... it's by Yumi (one of my favorite brands) and I purchased it from ModCloth, but I can't find anything about it on either of their sites, which is pretty rare, even after a lot of time has passed.  I am one of the very few people in the world who adores black licorice, and when I saw that this was a licorice allsorts print, I couldn't pass it up!  I'm convinced that a love for licorice is genetic; both my mom and grandma love black licorice -- especially allsorts -- and I'm sure that must be where I get it.  Not only do I love the candy itself, but I think the look of it is so fun and quirky... which explains why I also own a blouse and a one-piece swimsuit with similar allsorts prints!

I took these photos in the morning, before I went to work, which is extremely rare for me.  I usually get up early enough to just make it to work on time, but my schedule was all askew this week (my parents were out of town and I had to take care of a lot of things).  It was kind of nice to be productive in the morning, actually.  Though I would probably still rather sleep, when push comes to shove.

I was able to go to the Public Market on Saturday, which was a beautiful day (we got concord grapes, donut peaches and blackberries -- all delicious, local and cheap), and we were able to go out to dinner and sit outside, right on Irondequoit Bay, which was lovely.  And I had the pleasure of catching up with a dear friend (of 10 years now, which is pretty great) on Sunday.  All in all, a solid weekend.

I had to show the cute collar underneath!

This week is going to be pretty busy, but I actually enjoy trying to balance everything.  I think it keeps me more focused.  I don't like having too much downtime, honestly.  As overwhelmed as I can get, I'd rather be juggling too many things than not having enough to occupy my time.  For instance, today I'll be at work all day, then going straight to get my measurements taken for costumes (for the Rapunzel show I'll be in later this fall), then we have rehearsal for our Fringe Festival show, and then we'll be going out for drinks and dessert (though probably just the latter, in my case) for my best friend's birthday!  I like having things to look forward to.

Have a wonderful Monday!

Up, up and away

Outfit Details:
Float Couture Dress: ModCloth
White t-strap flats: Urban Outfitters
Boater hat: River Island
White belt: eBay

I wore this dress on my blog once, quite a while ago, but I'm getting to the point where I do need to repeat certain things... and I felt this one was worthy of repetition!  Since it was such a beautiful day, Steven and I decided to head over to a local park and he very patiently waited while I took photos.  I'm getting kind of fed up with figuring out how to get un-blurry photos.  The problem is that the camera I use is technically a point-and-shoot camera with some DSLR capabilities -- which are nice features, for sure, but it makes it difficult for me to follow troubleshooting guides for either of the two types, since this is somewhere in the middle.  I guess I need to start saving for a DSLR... and make the time and effort to learn how to properly use one!

Nishe is one of my absolute favorite designers ever, and this dress has the most darling details!  I just love that collar.  It's a little bit big in the waist, but I think the belt works well with it.

Have a great Saturday!

Horse and carriage ride

Outfit Details:
Dress: Oasis (sold out)
Rocking horse ring: Hello Holiday
Storybook Of My Life Flats: ModCloth

I really adore the brand Oasis, because they have so many gorgeous printed dresses, and the one I'm wearing here is no exception.  I knew that when I saw this dress, it had to come live with me.  The horse and carriage print is just too good to pass up, and I love the neck detailing!

Have a lovely Thursday!

Herbacious

Outfit Details:
Floral button-down: wholesale (can't remember website)
Pinafore: ASOS (out of stock, similar here)
Key: from our house; necklace chain: old
Gold flats: Marshall's
Daisy ring: Mom's

This shirt was $10 on a wholesale website, and I feel really badly because I can't figure out what the website was.  Normally, I'd just look back in my e-mail history, but I don't think there was even a confirmation e-mail sent from the site (only a PayPal receipt, and it's not linked to the site).  Even though the print is really pretty, I wouldn't even recommend buying it, anyway (though the sizing was accurate, which isn't always the case); the buttons they use on the blouse are ridiculously pointy and sharp studded ones, and they HURT!  I'm going to leave the ones on the sleeves buttoned forever, because I don't want to go through the pain of it again!  So once again, you get what you pay for.

I've worn this pinafore once before on my blog, but it was a while ago, and I figured it was time to wear it again.  It's not my favorite pinafore I own, but I do love light wash denim!

I know the print of the shirt is more floral than herbal, but for some reason, it made me think of herbs.  Have you ever thought about having to describe the taste of a specific herb to someone?  Like if someone had never tasted parsley or cilantro before?  It's really difficult to even think about!  All I can think of are words like "fresh" or "sharp," which don't really say anything at all.  It'd be really strange not to have that point of reference, I think.  Late night ramblings.

Have a great Wednesday!
