I haven't worn this dress since this past winter (I wore it when we went to see The Nutcracker -- I thought the candy print was totally apropos for the occasion), so I thought it was about time to put it to use. For some reason, I can't seem to find this dress anywhere on the internet... it's by Yumi (one of my favorite brands) and I purchased it from ModCloth, but I can't find anything about it on either of their sites, which is pretty rare, even after a lot of time has passed. I am one of the very few people in the world who adores black licorice, and when I saw that this was a licorice allsorts print, I couldn't pass it up! I'm convinced that a love for licorice is genetic; both my mom and grandma love black licorice -- especially allsorts -- and I'm sure that must be where I get it. Not only do I love the candy itself, but I think the look of it is so fun and quirky... which explains why I also own a blouse and a one-piece swimsuit with similar allsorts prints!
I took these photos in the morning, before I went to work, which is extremely rare for me. I usually get up early enough to just make it to work on time, but my schedule was all askew this week (my parents were out of town and I had to take care of a lot of things). It was kind of nice to be productive in the morning, actually. Though I would probably still rather sleep, when push comes to shove.
I was able to go to the Public Market on Saturday, which was a beautiful day (we got concord grapes, donut peaches and blackberries -- all delicious, local and cheap), and we were able to go out to dinner and sit outside, right on Irondequoit Bay, which was lovely. And I had the pleasure of catching up with a dear friend (of 10 years now, which is pretty great) on Sunday. All in all, a solid weekend.
I had to show the cute collar underneath! |
This week is going to be pretty busy, but I actually enjoy trying to balance everything. I think it keeps me more focused. I don't like having too much downtime, honestly. As overwhelmed as I can get, I'd rather be juggling too many things than not having enough to occupy my time. For instance, today I'll be at work all day, then going straight to get my measurements taken for costumes (for the Rapunzel show I'll be in later this fall), then we have rehearsal for our Fringe Festival show, and then we'll be going out for drinks and dessert (though probably just the latter, in my case) for my best friend's birthday! I like having things to look forward to.
Have a wonderful Monday!
