Right there in black and white

Outfit Details:
Dress: Anthropologie (old)
Light pink petticoat: vintage (via Cara)
White flats: yeswalker
Bow necklace: Kohl's

I've had this lovely dress for quite some time -- it's from wayyy before I was ever specifically into vintage or pin-up fashion.  I was a few sizes bigger than I am now when I bought this dress, but this is one of the few pieces that miraculously still fits well, post-weight loss.  I'm so glad about that, since I'd hate to have to lose this dress from my wardrobe!  My favorite part is the sewn-in pink lining... it's not fluffy like a crinoline, and you can't see it unless you lift the skirt up, but it's such a lovely surprise!  I added a light pink lace petticoat underneath it (courtesy of my former voice teacher's vintage collection) for a little more volume, and to amp up the pink factor.

This week has been pretty crazy -- I'm finally getting back into the swing of things where auditions and rehearsals are concerned.  This unintentional hiatus has been good for me in certain ways, but not-so-good in others.  It's been a while since I had to audition for something, and it can be difficult to get back on the horse at first.  We're having our first rehearsal for ROOMS: a rock romance (the show we're doing in the Rochester Fringe Festival) tonight, and I'm eager to sink my teeth into it.

I hope you have a lovely Thursday!

Goldilocks

Outfit Details:
Three Bears dress: Bodyline
Daisy ring: Mom's
White flats: yeswalker

So... obviously, I love this dress.  It's sweet and kitschy.  What more could I ask for?  Bodyline is considered by some to be kind of cheap and inauthentic (by true Lolita standards), but since I'm not really looking to be authentic or pay upwards of $150 for a Lolita dress, this $20(!) adorable number is perfect.  I actually ended up getting two different sizes (and colors) of this same dress, because one can't always trust sizing charts on these types of websites.  This actually is the smaller of the two dresses; the other one is a lovely light blue, and somehow both dresses ended up fitting well.  I'm not sure if I need two of the same dress, though.  Maybe I'll try to sell it or something, if there's any interest.

I tried to do Heidi braids the other day, after seeing this picture (and being surprised by the fact that they might look good).  I can't quite get them right, though.  My hair might be too thick, or maybe my layers make it more difficult.  Or maybe my hair is getting too long (I am in desperate need of a trim).

This moment made me feel like a Disney princess!

Have a lovely day!

Flowers and fields

Outfit Details:
Vintage dress: Sam and Milly Vintage
Boater hat: River Island
Kimchi Blue flats: Urban Outfitters
Squirrel ring: Forever 21

I've worn this dress once before on my blog, very early on, when I was still taking photos inside.  I wore it for a Mad Men-themed theatre gala (you can see how I wore it here), and it's been sitting in my closet since then.  It's such a pretty dress, and it fits me very well, so I felt it was high time to style it differently and take it out for another spin.

Isn't this little ring adorable?!

I'm going to spend the day doing things that make me happy.  In an ideal world, that would be the plan every day, but since we don't live in an ideal world, I'll grab happiness wherever I can.

Hope your day is happy, too!
