Lavender and Lace: a Lalamagic outfit post

Outfit Details:
In Love With Lavender Lace Dress: Lalamagic
And Mary rocking horse necklace: ASOS (on sale!)
White peep-toe flats: ASOS
Lilac flower ring: LeffKatya
Flower crown: DIY

I have loved this beautiful, delicate dress from the moment I saw it on the Lalamagic website.  When Gracelys of Lalamagic reached out to me to review some items and to become an affiliate for her vintage-inspired boutique, this was the first piece that came to mind.  I ordered it right away -- albeit hesitantly, since I was afraid it wouldn't fit.  Amazingly, the stretch in this dress is the perfect amount for my frame, and it ended up fitting perfectly.  I could not have been more thrilled.

And so it hung in my closet, waiting for the perfect opportunity to be showcased.  I knew I wanted to wear a flower crown with it, because it's so dreamy that it begs for one.  I wanted to try my hand at making one myself, since none of the ones I've bought seemed to be right.  This was my first attempt at making one, and I'm pretty pleased with the result (though I know what I'll do differently for the next one I make).  It's just as romantic-looking as I'd envisioned, at the very least.

This field is further down on my street, right next to a historic path (which is now mostly a bicycle path) that leads into the next town over.  It doesn't even look like it could be in the same state though, right?  I've been wanting to take photos here for a while.  I think it's a nice change of scenery.

That is a vulture(!!!)... it's like a completely different world!

Lalamagic is one of the first places I look for quirky, romantic prints and unique silhouettes.  The online shop just got in a bunch of truly wonderful pieces that I couldn't resist sharing!

I Love Gingham Cropped Top

Joyful Daisies Cropped Top

Have a Cup of Tea Cropped Top

French Village Bow Top

Macaroon Bow Top

Rosy French Patisserie Cropped Top

Vintage Vanity Top
A Day of Pastel Top
Minty Love Tank Top
Day Dream Denim Pinafore Dress
I am very much in love with all of these!  I think the French Village print top is my absolute favorite, followed by the little ruffled gingham crop top with the tea cup embroidery.  All of their pieces are so darling (don't even get me started on the cat-themed jewelry), and I love that Lalamagic also offers free worldwide shipping, as well as free returns and exchanges.  Because I shop online so much, those things matter to me quite a bit, and they definitely determine my brand loyalty.  If any of these pieces entice you, be sure to check out this darling, vintage-inspired shop.  I'd love to hear if you've found a favorite piece at Lalamagic, too!

Have a beautiful weekend!

Malt shop

Outfit Details:
Ella Black Scallop Edge Pinafore: Dahlia
Pink top: Forever 21 (no longer available, but similar here)
Amalgam of the Year Flat in Mint and Ivory: ModCloth
Mint ice cream brooch: sweet and lovely

I think I unintentionally channeled Kate Gabrielle of Scathingly Brilliant with this outfit.  Not only does she have this pinafore, but she designed this adorable brooch AND works in an ice cream shop!  I feel as if I should serving malted milkshakes.  All that's missing is a name tag and a pair of rollerskates.

I absolutely love these shoes.  Steven bought me a pair of more traditional-looking black and white saddle shoes from Urban Outfitters that ended up not fitting, but these were an even better substitute!  I have at least three pairs of mint-colored shoes now... maybe I should stop.  Or maybe not.

I'm seeing Legally Blonde tonight, at a theatre at which I often work.  I was in a production of the show last summer, and prior to being in it, I never really thought much of it as a piece.  True, it is a fluffy musical based on a popular movie, but I definitely wrote it off too much.  Even though I am often drawn to darker shows, musical theatre's roots are based in the fun and uplifting, and that's exactly what Legally Blonde is.  The music is really fun to sing (though I will admit that there is too much unison high belting for my taste), and though you're not going to get the same emotional ride you'd get from some heavier works, that's not what this show tries to be.  It embraces the bubble gum, and you do leave the theater feeling happier and bouncier; the show does exactly what it it's supposed to do.

Have a great Thursday!

I'm the July guest blogger over at Room 334!

Hi guys!

Exciting news!  The lovely Elana at Room 334 graciously asked if I would be her guest blogger for July on her blog!  So I'm over there today, highlighting a few of my favorite July finds!  As always, my picks include some vintage, kitsch, and sheer cuteness.  :)  You check out my post here!

Chanteuse

Outfit Details:
Polka dot dress: Urban Outfitters (no longer available)
Stick with Knit Cardigan: ModCloth
Rock the Mic Pin: ModCloth (no longer available)
Black belt: from another dress
Black flats: JC Penney

Although I own a boatload (I'm pretty sure this might be literal) of loud, statement dresses, I really love classic combinations like black and white.  I got this adorable polka dot dress on sale at Urban Outfitters a while back (sadly, it's no longer available).  I actually attempted to take outfit photos while wearing it before, but I really disliked the way the photos came out.  The dress looked really unflattering on me, and I was sort of afraid of trying again.  But I think adding this little cardigan made all the difference; the dress is on the short side, and I think having a dark color on top evens out the fullness of the skirt.  I was kind of bummed to find that there's already a hole underneath one of the cap sleeves -- and this was the first time I've worn it!  It'll be an easy fix though.  But this sweater did give me a place to add this amazing brooch!

I couldn't not buy this!  Not only am I a singer, but I come from 2 previous generations of singers as well.  I've mentioned before that my mom made her living as a singer for years (seriously, you have to check out her unbelievably 80s music video), and my grandma was also a singer, as a longtime member of Sweet Adelines.  This whole outfit made me feel like a jazz singer.

Have a great Tuesday!
