Although I own a boatload (I'm pretty sure this might be literal) of loud, statement dresses, I really love classic combinations like black and white. I got this adorable polka dot dress on sale at Urban Outfitters a while back (sadly, it's no longer available). I actually attempted to take outfit photos while wearing it before, but I really disliked the way the photos came out. The dress looked really unflattering on me, and I was sort of afraid of trying again. But I think adding this little cardigan made all the difference; the dress is on the short side, and I think having a dark color on top evens out the fullness of the skirt. I was kind of bummed to find that there's already a hole underneath one of the cap sleeves -- and this was the first time I've worn it! It'll be an easy fix though. But this sweater did give me a place to add this amazing brooch!
I couldn't not buy this! Not only am I a singer, but I come from 2 previous generations of singers as well. I've mentioned before that my mom made her living as a singer for years (seriously, you have to check out her unbelievably 80s music video), and my grandma was also a singer, as a longtime member of Sweet Adelines. This whole outfit made me feel like a jazz singer.
Have a great Tuesday!

I firmly believe you can't go wrong with polka dots. I love your little brooch, and the meaning behind it! Isn't it great when little pieces like that mean something to you? It just makes wearing them so nice.

Hehe, I love seeing both your pretty statement dresses and more "dressy cute" outfits (that is totally not the right word. I just need a word that describes something that is still super cute and dressed up hahaha). That polka dot dress is the perfect remix piece!!
