Girl Squad: Tea Time Style

tea time

Ashley and I are joining Katie and Amanda over on their blog today for a special group post! We've teamed up with Deer Arrow to style their adorable "tea time" brooches – and we each happened to wear them with beautiful vintage pieces. I'm obsessed with afternoon tea (what's not to love??), and have several tea-themed pieces of jewelry, but this little brooch set is by far the sweetest in my collection. We figured that this group post was the next best thing to getting the four of us together for teatime – though I can't wait for when that finally happens!

California Cuties on Junebugs and Georgia Peaches!

It's a magical thing when internet friendships transition so seamlessly into the "real world." I'm lucky enough to have an awesome little girl gang that extends far beyond the blogosphere. As most of you know, I recently spent some time in California with Ashley, and we of course made sure to take ample outfit photos during my visit. While our two other besties, Katie and Amanda, are recovering from their weekend at Dragon Con, Ashley and I are guest posting over on their blog (in coordinating pieces from Pinup Girl Clothing)! Follow me over to Junebugs and Georgia Peaches to see more!

Have a great Monday!

Aeroplane

I'm finally getting around to going through my recent photos from my recent trip to California. When I finalized the plans for my visit, I knew I'd have to bring along the Mary Blair planes print Heidi from Pinup Girl Clothing; it was just too appropriate for my first cross-country plane trip!

This is the only Heidi style dress that I own (thus far), and if you're curious about sizing, I'd say that the Heidi runs a little bigger than the average PUG dress. I originally chose this dress when I won a PUG contest on Instagram, and my normal size large was much too big on me. I ended up selling it to buy the medium, which fits really well. It's a much lighter material than some of my other dresses, which was actually a blessing with the California heat!

Getting the chance to spend time with Ashley was so wonderful. It can be really difficult to have such dear friends who are so far away, but it makes me even more thankful for our friendship because it stands the test of time (and distance). It also gives me an excuse to plot more fun visits! ;) I'll have to get better at photography before I visit again though – her photos are so much better than mine!

Sun Jellies Bag Swag on Junebugs and Georgia Peaches

sun jellies bags

Good morning!  I have a quasi-crafty post in store today.  Ashley and I are posting over on the Junebugs and Georgia Peaches blog -- along with resident Junebugs Amanda and Katie -- to show you how we each embellished our Sun Jellies tote bags for spring!  I've fallen head over heels for these colorful, versatile bags, and I loved seeing the spin we each put on our totes.  Plus, I'll take any excuse to have a combined post with my three best gals!  Follow me over to Junebugs and Georgia Peaches to see how we styled our Sun Jellies bags!

You don't bring me flowers

I think most (if not all!) of us can agree that Ashley of Southern (California) Belle is one of the sweetest ladies around, with an even sweeter wardrobe.  Getting to know Ashley better through Flock Together has been an absolute delight, and I always love seeing how she remixes items.  From the moment I laid eyes on this vintage dress over on Ashley's blog, I was swooning.  Ashley wore this dress for the rehearsal dinner for her brother's wedding, and she was so incredibly kind to let me borrow it.  She managed to score this beauty for $29 on Etsy (which is amazing), and I told her that I had just one problem with it: namely, that I never wanted to take it off!  Ashley is much smaller than I am, but somehow, this dress fit me perfectly (sometimes I think of Flock Together like the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, only with dresses).  This dress might be the dress of my dreams.

I'm also envious of Ashley's dreamy pink hair (especially because of pairs so beautifully with her wardrobe!).  She opted for a slightly more casual look, and styled this dress with a pretty aquamarine cardigan, belt and pink mermaid flats.  Ashley always looks like a mermaid to me!  <3

Did you all have a nice Independence Day?  I went to see fireworks with my best friend, Wayne, and it was a lot of fun.  This year is proving really hard for me, and I feel like a lot of the important people in my life have quickly dissipated for one reason or another.  I'm thanking my lucky stars that I have Wayne.  It's imperative to find reasons to be thankful these days.  I know being thankful is not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the 4th of July, but I am, nonetheless.  I'm thankful for fireworks and cotton candy, and also for friends and family and my health and to live in a country that allows me to make my own choices.  So maybe Independence Day is about being thankful, after all.

Have a great Saturday!
