Happy Friday, friends! I'm over on the Campbell/Crafts blog today talking about how I styled their bowling t-shirt (a collaboration with Atomic Swag) three different ways. I had a lot of fun with this one and I'd love to tell you all about it! I'm even bringing you with me to a retro-radio-festooned bowling alley here called Radio Social (thanks to my friend Emma!) – what could be more perfect than that?

I had a great time seeing how many ways I could style this top, and it made me feel invigorated to remix pieces in my wardrobe much more often. You can see all my outfits featuring this tee over at Campbell/Crafts! How do you like remixing your t-shirts?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Navy

navy diner dress campbell crafts

Generally speaking, I've never been a big fan of navy blue. I'm not sure why, but it's always seemed kind of dull to me. As far as neutrals go, I'll always choose black or gray over navy. And if there's a print I really like on a navy background, chances are that I may forgo buying the item altogether. But it's a new year, and that means that it's the perfect time to try new things. So I decided to try out this navy diner dress from Campbell/Crafts – and I'm very glad I did!

I styled this dress in a very simple way (I wish I had remembered to add a brooch!), but I could definitely add a cardigan or layer another skirt over it to make the top into a blouse. I was a bit worried about the fit of the top, as button-down fronts usually aren't my friend. However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it fits quite well with very minimal gaping. My favorite part is the pink trim, which happened to match a belt I already owned. I've seen this dress styled with a fuller petticoat, but I opted to go without in order to create a more 1940's silhouette. The material is a bit thin for our winters here in upstate New York, but I think it'll transition beautifully into spring. One thing's for sure: while I may not ever be naturally drawn to navy, I'll definitely give it much more consideration in the future.

Bowl-a-rama

bowling shirt

Because I have this ever-present desire to look like I belong in the cast of any and every 50's movie-musical, I'm totally taken with Campbell/Crafts' adorable retro shirts. I really enjoyed their pastel diner themed collection, and their mint & pink bowling shirts are just as adorable! After putting on this outfit, I immediately got "Score Tonight (Let's Bowl)" from Grease 2 stuck in my head – which is kind of the exact reaction you want, really. If only this shirt would allow me to pirouette down a bowling lane... or at least let me get a good score without using bumpers.

If you're thinking of getting yourself one of these tops, they're made of a lightweight fabric and are pretty comfy to wear. It's prone to wrinkling (I had assumed they'd be a little stiffer), but it makes for a really nice casual piece, which is a welcome addition to my dressy wardrobe. I received the UK 14 in an attempt to accommodate my bust without having gaping in the buttons; I still experienced some, but sizing up again would make the shirt much too big in other areas, so I think I made the right choice. I decided to tie the bottom of the shirt in lieu of tucking it in to the skirt as I had planned, which is also a great option if you wanted to layer it over a dress or wear it with high-waisted pants.
