I hope you all had a nice holiday weekend! Unfortunately, I came down with some kind of viral infection on Saturday night, so I've been spending most of my time on the couch. Luckily, I've been able to work from home, which has made things a lot easier. I didn't feel up to doing a post on Monday, but I'm back today with this marvelous makeup print skirt from Vixen by Micheline Pitt!

This skirt is a must for any fellow makeup-loving girls! I pretty much knew from the moment I saw the mock-up of this print that I needed it in my life. It's just too good! The skirt is also of really nice quality and I found the fit to be spot-on with the size chart. (For those who normally wear PUG, it fits precisely how their skirts should.) Plus... pockets! I've already worn this skirt a few times and I love it more each time I put it on. I couldn't resist getting matching hairspray lapel pin – you all know how much I love a theme!

Mahjong

Well, this park looked fall-like when I took these photos... you'd never know here that it's now covered in snow! We had a decent run for fall, so I guess I can't complain too much. The snow is getting me excited for Christmas, but until then, I can't wait for Thanksgiving tomorrow! I'll actually be having two thanksgivings this year, as my guy and I are celebrating back-to-back with our families. That's something I haven't done in a long time, but I'm looking forward to it. That, and lots of mashed potatoes.

I wasn't sold on this Trashy Diva mahjong print when it first came out, but it ended up growing on me quite a bit. I got it for a really great price, though I wish I had sized up. It just zips – which means that I definitely won't be wearing it for Thanksgiving (I want to EAT!). But I really like the fall color palette, and I'm glad I got a chance to wear it before winter really arrived.

I'm thankful for many things this year: a job and a boy I love, a lovely apartment of my own, my friends and family and cat. Although this month has been tough, I know I'm very fortunate. I'm worried about the future, but for now, I'm giving thanks for all the things I have. What are you thankful for this year?

Commuters

You might remember my dear friend, Henry, from other posts here on my blog (like this one from last fall or this springy set of photos). Henry moved to New York City and is now out on tour, so I don't get much of a chance to take photos with him anymore. But he happened to be home for a weekend in September and I was lucky enough to spend a fabulous day with him. We went to a really good estate sale, did some vintage shopping, had a delicious lunch, and then took these photos on my cute little street. As I get older, I seem to get more selective with the people I choose to spend my time with. But spending an afternoon with Henry is always an absolute delight. I just wish we could see each other more often!

In an effort to utilize more of my existing wardrobe – rather than constantly buying new stuff – I decided to remix this Mary Blair commuters print dress from Pinup Girl Clothing for the fall. One of my favorite way to get more use out of my dresses is to layer a top or a sweater over it. It works especially well with tops that look a bit too short with jeans, but a regular-length tee can work just as well if you roll up the bottom hem and tuck it into a wide belt. Ta-da! Your dress becomes a skirt, and no one will ever know!
