I'm totally dismayed -- how is it almost 2015? A lot has happened over the past year. If I'm being perfectly honest, it's been a very difficult year, filled with a lot of loss. I've struggled a lot to find my footing and figure out a direction for my life (which is something I'm still working on). But there's also been a lot of soul-searching and self-discovery, and learning more about yourself and what you want (or don't want) is never a bad thing. Navigating your mid-20s is tricky enough without essentially having to scrap the plan you had for your future, but if nothing else, being adaptable -- and daring to re-imagine something more for yourself -- improves character and makes you realize how strong you truly are. I am fortunate to be surrounded by people who care about me and I've been given some great opportunities along the way. And even if my life doesn't currently look like how I envisioned it, I am looking forward to what the new year might bring.
One of my favorite facets of caring people in my life include the dear friends who I have met through blogging. Even though I haven't met most of these blogging ladies in real life, their friendships have meant the world to me, and I feel very lucky to have made these virtual connections with such wonderful individuals. Two of these individuals are Amanda and Katie of
Junebugs and Georgia Peaches, who were kind enough to send me
this beautiful Voodoo Vixen dress! I drink
very rarely (I'll have a cocktail maybe twice a year), but this martini print dress is so darling, and I thought it'd be perfect for New Year's Eve. I usually like to opt for sparkle or luxurious fabrics for NYE, but this is such a fun alternative! Although I'm working all day and planning on a low-key night in (not my ideal choice, but them's the breaks), I still like to dress up for the occasion!
What are your plans for New Year's Eve? And more importantly, what are you wearing? :)

I hope you all have a fantastic & safe New Year's Eve!

The print does indeed seem perfect for NYE!
ReplyDeleteOhhh it looks AMAZEBALLS on you! LOVE it. I wish I had more glamorous plans, too. My boyfriend, Cody, and I plan to stay in, order Chinese food, be comfy in our jammies, and just veg out. We've been so active with the other holidays that it will be nice to be laid back for New Year's. We may even fall asleep before midnight! Live dangerously, right? ;)

In a Nutshell...
... That actually sounds perfect, though. I'm a total homebody at heart.
DeleteIt blows my mind that it is almost 2015. The older I get, the faster time flies.
ReplyDeleteThat dress looks great on you! Loving the print.
My plan is to stay home and be lazy. I'll probably watch the ball drop on tv, maybe do some reading. I'm considering splurging on a bottle of sparkling grape juice ;)
I'll be sipping on sparkling grape juice, too! :)
DeleteI'll raise a glass to the New Year, too, and hope that it 2015 proves to be a better one for both of us, sweet Sammi (I didn't loath 2014, but I didn't massively love it in general either).
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutely gorgeous and as though you could outshine (with your megawatt style) the ball in Time Square tomorrow night!
Huge hugs & the very happiest of New Year's wishes!
♥ Jessica
Your post is very relatable, and I completely understand the difficulties of trying to find where you belong.
ReplyDeleteOn the positive side, this dress is darling and the color is fabulous! Especially with your hair!
Happy New Year!

2015 was a bit rough for me too (just a lot of unexpected bumps along the way)...but yes, we got through and I am definitely toasting to 2015 being a lovely year for us all. Here's wishing you the very best. And of course - you look like a dream. That dress couldn't be anymore perfect on you. If I'm not going to my friend's party - I'm most definitely doing a cozy night in as well :-) xoxo Marisa
ReplyDeleteThat dress looks fantastic on you. Love the hair as well, this half up beehive style is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love this dress on you Sammi!! Happy New Year to you! xo
ReplyDeleteHappy new year. You certainly couldn't beat that dress for the occasion
ReplyDeleteOh man this is a perfect dress for New Year's Eve! The color is so gorgeous on you too! I really hope 2015 is extra good for you to make up for last year's crappiness. Happy New Year!
