Two of my favorite fashion elements are scalloped edges and gingham print. Both are youthful, fun and nostalgic (which pretty much sums up my aesthetic to a t!). Until now, I hadn't owned a dress that featured both! This sweet dress was one of the pieces from the ModCloth + A Beautiful Mess collaboration, which I really loved (I still have my eyes peeled for this dress, in fact!). Kate sent me a gigantic package of clothes in a closet clean-out, and this was one of the dresses I was delighted to find inside. It's a different silhouette from what I normally wear, but it's really adorable -- and work-appropriate, which was fortunate, as I had to run off to the box office after snapping these photos!
Although I worked most of Saturday, I had a really nice Sunday. I spent the day doing some shopping with my mom and visited with my friend, Wayne. I'm not ready for snow yet (though we're supposed to be hit with a polar vortex in a few days -- eek!), but I am getting into the holiday spirit. Finding gifts for people I love is one of my favorite things. I have some fun posts and collaborations in the works over the next couple of months. Oh, and I lost almost 3 pounds this past week! I'm feeling very encouraged at the moment. :)

The dress looks great on you. I'm a big fan of gingham myself, and I like the way the black kind of offsets the very youthful print and detailing. And congrats on the weight loss!
ReplyDeleteI remember being tempted by that dress when it was on Modcloth :) It looks great on you- and even better that it was in a surprise box of clothes- I still can't imagine how fun that must have been! Good luck with the incoming polar vortex!
ReplyDeleteSo charmingly sweet and chic at the same time. I love (!!!) scallops on just about anything, too. Fashion, crafts, cake decor, you name it! :)

Scallops are the best! I bought a casino-themed pencil skirt from a thrift-shop recently with embroidered scalloped edges and I thought it was interesting to note it's one of the only scalloped-themed items I own.. despite my love of scallops. I really must get on with my collection.
ReplyDeleteI'm so envious that you have a bunch of blogger friends to swap clothes to and fro like that, it must be really really convenient, hehe.

P.S. Congrats on the weight loss! Do you have a goal in mind?
that is the prettiest dress, and it looks so perfect on you! And good for you on losing the weight! It's so hard to lose weight, and it's always so encouraging when you're trying and it actually happens!

ReplyDeleteThe dress looks awesome on you and it's so nice of Kate.
Congrats on your success with WW. This is such a fun dress. It has a rather tuxedo vibe here, but super subtle. So playful and fun!
