I don't wear black very often on my blog, which is sort of funny, since I essentially lived in black clothes not too long ago. When you're a theatre student, wearing black is a requirement for a lot of classes, but since graduating from college, I wear it far less often than I used to. Still, it's nice go back to black every once and a while, and who doesn't love a good LBD? I only own a couple of black dresses, and this one is probably the most formal one I have. I wore this Lindy Bop dress back in June when I sang with my dad's band during the Rochester Jazz Festival, but hadn't worn it since then. I wasn't totally in love with it the first time I wore it, honestly, but it's grown on me a lot since then -- and looks about a million times better with a petticoat! This would be good cocktail party attire... but since I don't often frequent those, I think it'd be a cute New Year's Eve outfit, too.
I've been working a ton this week, and my parents have been away on vacation, so I've had the house to myself. I've spent lots of quality time with Pumpkin (who has been extra snuggly), and the time alone has actually been very nice. I've thought many times about whether I'd want to live alone if I moved, and this has been a good test for that on a small scale. Oh, and my best friend Wayne is finally home from the hospital and on the mend. So, good news all around.

So glad to hear Wayne is on the mend, enough to be back home!
ReplyDeleteAlso- I am totally in love with this dress on you! The bust-line is gorgeous (and the necklace fits it perfectly). The hint of white petticoat is what makes it extra special though. Can never say no to a good petticoat!
Glad that Wayne's getting better - you must be beyond relieved!
ReplyDeleteThe Ophelia dress is so classic - I've seen it popping up on various blogs but this is the first time I've seen it in the black colorway. Love it! It's so elegant in this colour, and I love how you've got a bit of petticoat peeking out. It's also the first 50s style full dress I've encountered that there's been a petite version available - hence I could also get one without needing it altered. Well done, Lindy Bop! CC x
You look fantastic!!! This dress has just the right blend of elegance and girly fun to it, thanks to the full skirt in particular.
ReplyDeleteI'm truly happy to hear that your friend is out of the hospital and hope that things will continue on an upward trend for him on the health front.

This dress looks so good on you! I love bright clothes and cool patterns, but there's still nothing quite like a LBD. :)
ReplyDeleteYou gotta love a classic black dress. You look so sophisticated and classy! I like the little peep of white at the bottom from the petticoat. That along with the necklace adds a nice little bit of contrast!
ReplyDeleteYou look so stunning, what an elegant and classy dress.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous dress! x

I'm happy to hear Wayne is doing better! This dress is adorable! It is kind of weird to see you in black, but in a good way. I think this would be the perfect NYE outfit, especially with lots of sparkly accessories.
ReplyDeleteSo what's the verdict? Did you enjoy living alone? When Kevin was on tour for months I actually liked it. But I also really love being alone so I was totally in my element. Those were the days...
I actually LOVED living alone. I was nervous about it at first, but honestly I sort of wish it lasted longer. I'm an introvert and I need my space to recharge, so it was really heavenly. It definitely makes me want to move and get my own little place!
DeleteThat dress looks really cute on you. I've been a bit hesitant about that style of Lindy Bop dress - it looks so great on other people, but I always worry that my shape won't be quite right for it, since I wouldn't exactly fill up the bust. Very nice for NYE, or even just a nice night out on the town with someone.
ReplyDeleteThis dress looks to be made for you. I really can never get over how well you pull of these vintage dresses!
ReplyDeletewow you look awesome with this dress and hair so pretty <3
