Junebugs and Georgia Peaches: Disney Stowaway

Happy Saturday!  I'm posting over at Junebugs and Georgia Peaches today while June + Amelia are off in warmer, Disney-filled climates.  I've been suffering from Disney Fever lately, so I'm highlighting some of my Disney-worthy ensembles (and sharing some pieces from my wish [upon a star] list), like this Minnie-esque outfit below!  Follow me over to Junebugs and Georgia Peaches to read the full post!  <3

Friday Favorites #79

TGIF!  I wasn't able to do a Friday Favorites post last week, but here are a few things that have tickled my fancy over the past couple of weeks.

I love all of Deer Arrow's pieces, but these classic car brooches might be my favorite!  I'm swooning over the pink one!

Someday, when I have lots of dispensable income, I shall buy a pretty record player like this one:

This is seriously my dream dress.  I'm in love.

I've been looking everywhere for a white sweater that I could layer over dresses and wear with jeans.  This one seems like it would suit my needs perfectly!

It's probably bad that I'm already looking forward to spring, because we have at least two months of winter left.  But since I essentially live in flats during the warmer months, I've been eyeing these ones (and I love that they come in 3 different colors!) in anticipation of winter's end:

And speaking of warmth... these swimsuits make me want to travel to a warm climate IMMEDIATELY.

I'll be doing a separate Valentine-themed Friday Favorites post soon, but I couldn't resist including these adorable love match necklaces from I Love Crafty in this week's post!

And finally... I leave you with this list of 19 Bernese Mountain puppies who just want to make your day better.

Pencil pusher

luck be a lady dress

I'm sure I've mentioned that I'm a huge devotee of the Luck Be a Lady dresses that ModCloth carries.  They're made by a UK-based brand, Closet, and they are among my most versatile dresses.  This newest version is the 5th one I own (oops); the red and purple versions I have are my go-to audition dresses, and then I have an autumnal plaid and a springy print version as well.  But since this saturated spearmint color is a favorite of mine (and I had a coupon to boot), I managed to justify getting this one.  My dear friend Ashley recently styled hers on her blog, and it reminded me that I had yet to wear mine!

Until last weekend, I hadn't much felt like getting dolled up at all.  I'd spent the last couple of weeks in grubby clothes and not putting on much makeup or doing my hair.  To be honest, it was a nice break, but I'm glad to be feeling more like myself again.  I mentioned in a recent post that I had gone to a dermatologist in an effort to get my skin cleared up, and so far, what I'm doing seems like it's had a positive effect on my skin.  Although I still wouldn't feel at all okay about going barefaced to a social event, the nice thing is that my skin has definitely calmed down quite a bit -- and that means I can wear way less makeup, since I don't have to cover up as many imperfections!  I used to have to wear a ton of liquid foundation, concealer and powder to hide blemishes and redness, but now I'm able to dust on some BareMinerals powder concealer and foundation (which isn't anywhere near as heavy as what I had been wearing) and feel great about the end result.  It's still in the beginning stages, but I hope it'll just get better from here!

A sea of snow

dear creatures sweater

Happy Monday!  I actually had some semblance of a weekend, which was very nice indeed.  I even managed to take some photos over the last few days (it's warmed up a bit from -4 degrees, luckily), and my days off were well-timed, since I have a few new pieces -- and I'd run out of my stockpile of outfit photos!  Of course, I still waited 'til the last minute to finish this post... but at least I'd planned ahead in other ways.

I feel as if I rummaged through my entire closet in order to find something with which I could wear this sweater.  I had several ideas in mind, but none of them panned out the way I imagined they would.  I almost opted to wear it with jeans, but I wanted a dressier option.  I finally remembered this strapless dress from ModCloth, and though my original thought was to wear it with a white skirt, I realized that this would layer quite nicely.  This dress doesn't get nearly enough wear, so it was nice to bring it out again for a spin.

Ice princess

hell bunny coat

I guess you could say I'm a little coat-crazy.  Or maybe a lot coat-crazy.  Alright, I'm downright obsessed with outerwear.  If you live in a place with frigid winters like I do (it was -4 degrees earlier this week!), owning a pretty coat (...or seven) to complete your ensemble -- rather than just covering it up -- makes the cold weather much more bearable.  And when you have a coat as pretty as this one, the rest of the outfit doesn't much matter.

This coat makes me feel like royalty (hence the post title).  This is one of a few Hell Bunny coats I own, and they're all so special, flattering and surprisingly warm.  It can be a challenge to find outerwear that looks decent over crinolines, but this coat has a very accommodating full skirt and the length is perfect for me.  The one downside to this coat is that it doesn't have pockets.  I've been wanting a muff for a while, so maybe I should get one to alleviate the problem of where to put my gloves!

Bear hug

sugarhill boutique modcloth

Sugarhill Boutique consistently has some of my favorite prints.  Their prints are typically both whimsical and delicate, and they lend themselves well to lots of different types of styling.  This dress was on my ModCloth wish list for a while before I found a coupon code, and since I had some store credit, I actually ended up paying less than $20 for it.  I ended up really liking the square neckline, and the print is even more charming in person.

This print reminded me of the movie Brave, which I recently watched with my mom for the first time and absolutely loved.  My mom and I have an incredibly close relationship, so the mother-daughter storyline had me bawling at the end.  In addition, dialects are one of my areas of expertise (I feel like a tool putting it that way, but I'm not sure how else to phrase it), and Scottish is one of my favorites to do.  I will also be forever wishing I could be a redhead.  I can't really pull it off with my coloring, I don't think, so I'll just have to live vicariously through those who can.

Hang on little tomato

tomato dress

It's absolutely freezing outside these days (it's been in the single digits this week!), but I took advantage of the warmer weather a couple of weeks ago to take some photos in this Bernie Dexter dress.  Like many of her dresses, I'd had my eye on this one for quite some time before it finally went on sale.  The print is probably better suited for summertime, but it's so charming -- and I have an adorable tomato ring that goes perfectly with it!

Like I predicted, it's been far too chilly to take photos outside (even I have my limits!), so I've spent this week working, rehearsing, exercising, and slowly checking things off my to-do list.  Oh, and staying warm with lots of tea and hot cocoa.  I haven't really felt like getting dolled up this week; it's too cold for dresses and I'd rather stay in my warm bed for an extra hour than do anything with my hair.  In addition, I started seeing a dermatologist to try and resolve my skin issues, and I haven't felt like putting on much makeup.  I've been dealing with acne for over 15 years now, and my hope is that my skin will eventually get to the point where I don't have to cake on a ton of makeup to cover up blemishes and scarring.  I wish I could be one of those girls with naturally flawless skin!  Maybe someday.
