Dreamland

Outfit Details:
Dress: Macy's in NYC (very old)
Roses pin: Mom's
Ballet slippers: dance store
love/dream ring: American Eagle (old)

The last (and only time) I wore this dress was when I was a senior in high school!  That means it's been sitting in my closet for 6+ years, unworn and loved only from afar.  It's such a romantic piece -- it looks almost like a nightgown or negligee -- and it's not one that can be worn in many circumstances.  But it's so dreamy that I thought it would be a perfect complement to yesterday's post.  The dress I wore yesterday felt like I was in that almost-falling-asleep-place, and this dress feels like I've been dreaming for hours.  I wish all my dreams were this ethereal.

It's verrrrry hard to see, but this little ring has "love/dream" etched on it.  I got it from American Eagle a very long time ago, and haven't worn it in nearly as long.  But I like its simplicity and obviously, loving and dreaming are two of my favorite things in the world.

Leftovers from my DIY floral crown!  That'll make an appearance here pretty soon.

I started using Flickr for today's photos, instead of just uploading them directly to the post.  I think the quality is much higher.  My photos tend to be a little blurry anyway, but uploading them directly to blogger was making them have an even lower quality.  I may be the only one who notices the difference, but when I compared the two options side by side, Flickr was the clear winner.  Despite the fact that it's an extra step, I think I'll be using Flickr from now on.

Have a dreamy day!

Lullaby

Outfit Details:
Dress: SheInside
My Fair Lacy Flats: ModCloth
Bringing Down the Horse Ring: Hello Holiday
Key necklace: house key, old chain

Hush-a-by / Don't you cry
Go to sleep, my little baby

When you wake, you shall have
All the pretty little horses

All I could think of while wearing this outfit was how much it felt like I was wearing a nightgown (in the best possible way) and felt like I was kind of in a hazy state.  This dress reminds me of wind chimes and soft breezes and the feel in the air right before a summer rainstorm.

The details on this dress are pretty dreamy, no?

Shameless self-promotion time... don't forget to visit my shop my closet store!  I've now made two sales (of three items), thanks to some very nice friends.  I'd love it if you'd check it out, too!  (If you missed my blog post with all the photos of what's in my shop, click here!)

Not much else to say today.

Have a great Tuesday!

Comic sans

Outfit Details:
"Sewing Made Easy" Comic Book Dress: Unique Vintage (also available at ModCloth)
No. 2 Necklace: Hello Holiday
Blue flats: Target (old)
Bow headband: Kohl's

Is it really surprising to anyone that I love this print?  A comic book print dress about making dresses?  Come on.  It's very comfortable, and I love that the material is thick enough that I can deal with the pesky open-back-sans-bra issue.  Now I just need to learn how to actually sew dresses myself, so that I don't have to pay so much for awesome dresses like this one!

I just noticed that the pattern repeats right on the middle seam in the dress in the back.  This kind of thing annoys me, especially because they were so good about making the seams match up with the print in the front of the dress!

Last time I wore this necklace, it was with a blue and white striped dress, and a reader smartly suggested that it reminded her of a pencil with lined paper!  I thought it was only appropos that I'd wear it with a dress that reminds me of drawing.

In other exciting news, I made my first sale in my shop my closet store this weekend!  A friend of mine from college bought this awesome disco-inspired dress.  If you missed my post highlighting all of the items I have in the shop, you can take a look here.  Or just visit my store!  I have a bunch of great pieces at very low prices!  I just want them to find loving homes.  :)

Have a great Monday!

Ice cream and swimming pools

Thank goodness it's less humid around here as of late.  When I was running around and taking photos for my shop my closet post, it was so muggy outside that I finally couldn't take it anymore -- and I jumped in our pool for the first time this summer!

Outfit Details:
Red or Dead Ice Cream one piece swimsuit: Joanna's Wardrobe
(Other styles also available: tankini and bikiki)
Pink flats: J.Crew (old)

I absolutely love this brand.  I have two other swimsuits by Red or Dead (one is bright yellow and has a map of London drawn on it, and the other is a blue tankini with flowers and gardening tools on it).  Highly recommend these!  It's kind of a difficult brand to find, but there are a bunch of swimsuits of theirs still available at ASOS.

I adore this print!

Have a great Sunday (or sundae, now that this swimsuit has whet your appetite) and stay cool!
