The Tooth Fairy

Outfit Details:
Hypatia Dress: ever+mi.crush
Lavender sweater: Forever 21 (similar here)
Cat eye glasses: ModCloth (similar here)
White Mary Janes: estate sale store
Bracelet: American Eagle (old)

This is a short, silly post!  I was trying to figure out another way to wear this dress (designed by the lovely Kate Gabrielle), and I found this pretty sweater from last year in a box of older clothes, and decided to try remixing the dress.  For some reason, this outfit makes me think of a modern day costume for The Tooth Fairy!  Maybe it's because I have fairies on the brain lately (I'm playing the Blue Fairy in a production of Disney's My Son Pinocchio here), or maybe because I have the spirit of a costumer, but I think the soft pastels and kooky glasses are perfect -- plus, the collar kind of looks like a row of teeth!  The pearly white shoes and bracelet were also a nice touch, I thought.  I don't know if the bulky sweater over a dress combination is very flattering on me, but it's definitely a practical choice!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Friday Favorites #40

I'm itching for spring to arrive, and although it's been in the single digits this past week, the light in the early evenings and the sound of birds chirping in the morning makes me believe that it's on its way!  Plus, there's another important sign: new spring arrivals!  As (almost) always, this week's Friday Favorites selections include oodles of kitsch and a plethora of pastels.

All of these dresses are from Nasty Gal, and they are seriously killing it with their new pretty pastel offerings.  I especially love the last dress ("g") , since it's actually a birthday balloon print (if you look closely)!  But they're all really romantic -- if not a little bare.  :)

I think it's also plain to see that I am especially smitten with anything pink lately...

These two blush pink dresses are so breathtaking!

These picture frames are so delicate and lovely!  I don't have any framed photos in my room anymore (a breakup casualty), but these make me want to change that!

These minty, heart-heeled shoes are so sweet!

Talking about things I "heart"... I absolutely freaked out when I saw these new Betsey Johnson novelty purses.  The ice cream cones are divine (though completely impractical), and I need the vinyl record one!  Someone even pointed out that there are little gold music notes on the shoulder strap!  I think that as the daughter of former rock stars (kind of), if anyone should own that bag, it is I.

More novelty purses!  Kate Spade always has amazing ones, and these new ones are so summery!

Wouldn't the lemon bag go perfectly with this darling citrus print dress?
I'm always a sucker for food-themed clothing and accessories, and if I still had pierced ears, I'd definitely want these cherry earrings!
This lunch bag reminds me of The Very Hungry Caterpillar!

These sunglasses are incredible.  I could never justify spending that much on sunglasses, but they have little mini cakes and petit fours and goodies all along the rims!!!  Ahhh!!
Speaking of goodies, I love both of these baked-good-shaped housewares!  The cupcake is a cookie jar, and the tower of donuts can be either a stool or a table!

Charlotte Olympia makes lots of shoes and accessories that look good enough to eat, but I'm actually really enamored with the new sewing-themed collection:

They make me think of this great Bernie Dexter dress, which has old dress patterns as the print:

I also adore these other comically-good items from Charlotte Olympia:

These heels have Betty on one side and Veronica on the other!

And of course, these two clutches are on my in-my-dreams-wish-list:

Finally... I am absolutely OBSESSED with this Rachel Antonoff sweatshirt from Emerging Thoughts.  I never thought I'd consider buying a sweatshirt for $80, but IT HAS A BRILLIANT GAME OF MASH ON IT.  Plus, it's pink and would go perfectly with my Rachel Antonoff oxfords (they're pink and mint with yearbook signatures on them).  It makes references to Jonathan Taylor Thomas and The Babysitters Club.  What more could you possibly want in a top?!

Also, Walt Jr. (I mean, Flynn) is now modeling for The Gap.

Have a fantastic Friday!

Bonbons and cupcakes

Outfit Details:
Lilac coat: Linany (old)
Nishe cupcake dress: ASOS (old)
Lilac hat & belt: ASOS (old)
Bonbon Ribbon bag: Sanrio store
Cupcake ring: Claytime Designs
White tights: Target
White boots: eBay

This may be the most costume-y kawaii outfit I've ever worn.  I'm super into color coordinates lately, and I will always find ways to incorporate pastels into my wardrobe.  This new bag was kind of the catalyst for the whole ensemble.  I picked it up at the Orlando airport on our way back from Disney World; it was my first time in a Sanrio store, and I was in heaven!  This bag was marked down pretty significantly, and the pastel pink and lavender color scheme called out to me.  I looked up the little bunny character, Bonbon Ribbon, before writing this post, and I discovered that not only is she a little pink bunny with a bow on her head, but she is a singer and dancer who loves fashion.  I literally could not think of a more fitting little character for me if I tried!  I knew that this cupcake dress would be a perfect fit for the kitschy sweetness of the bag, and since the dress is so springy, this coat had to be paired with it.  Kooky or not, I kind of love it.

I haven't given much of a personal update in a while, I feel like.  I've started rehearsals for the children's theatre show I'm doing, which is fun.  I'm excited to play a fairy, even if I don't get to fly!  I'm working quite a lot (it's subscription renewal season, which is always busy) and trying to muster up the motivation to cross lots of things off my to-do list.  Most importantly, I feel pretty happy these days, and I'm moving on in terms of my love life.  I'm still bothered by a lot of things that have to do with my ex, and I will be the first to admit that I haven't always handled my hurt and frustration with grace, but I've gotten to the point where I no longer want to hold on to any leftover fragments of our relationship.  He'd already taken so much from me and inflicted so much emotional pain, and he doesn't get to do that anymore.  I deserve to be happy, and I am.  I'm going out of town this weekend on a bit of a romantically-inclined adventure, and feeling giddy (and un-haunted by my heartbreak) has been such a welcome change in my life.  :)

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

The time is upon us!  We're headed to Disney World today!!  I'm so excited!  I've been scheduling some of these posts in advance (since the last thing you want to be doing during a vacation is worrying about blogging), so I'm waiting to go into more details about the first half of our trip until I can really sit down and take the time to write a full post.  I felt this outfit was pretty perfect for Disney-ing; this dress always reminds me of fairies and magic and all things happy.  I took these photos on an unseasonably warm day a few weeks back, which really put me in the mood for warm weather, too.

We'll be getting to Disney in the early afternoon, and after we check in to our hotel (we're staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, which is exciting since I've wanted to stay there forever), we're heading to an adorable-looking fifties soda shop place for lunch, walking around EPCOT, having dinner at the Flying Fish Cafe, and then walking around the Boardwalk.  We thought about doing Downtown Disney, but we both felt like there wasn't really much we wanted to do down there.  I have memories of Downtown Disney from when I was little, and it seems like it used to be more of an adult fun place (Pleasure Island isn't there anymore, is it??), and now it's just kind of like, indoor game places and the House of Blues, which is fine, but not our preference, I suppose.  We've never walked around the Boardwalk hotel and grounds though, so I'm excited to see some of that.

Tomorrow, we're headed to Hollywood Studios (I have a great cinematic outfit planned).  Although I feel badly for taking a vacation without my dad, my mom and I usually agree on what rides to go on (except I know that I'll want to go on Soarin' at EPCOT and she won't), and we can just have a girly time.  I have so many silly, fanciful outfits planned for the rest of our trip.  :)  I'll be posting lots of Disney photos on my Instagram, if you'd like to live vicariously.

I attempted to create a faux-bob, but I'm not sure what it ended up being.  I kind of like it though.

Have a terrific Tuesday!
