Do fries go with that shake?

modcloth good enough to eat dress

Happy Wednesday! Between planning out my meals with Weight Watchers and celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow, I have food on the brain as of late... so I thought it'd be a good time to wear this dress! This print is really fun, but to be honest, this dress wasn't even on my wish list. I love a good novelty print, but this one always seemed a little too loud and busy for me. It's cute in person, and it's a great layering piece, but I'm definitely not as attached to it as some of my other kookier dresses. It's definitely grown on me, though. Plus, I felt like I had to get it after I got this purse! Out of my entire collection of novelty purses (which is ever-expanding), this one is probably the least practical. Although my other novelty purses are a little too silly for certain occasions, they are at least large enough to hold the necessities. My iPhone won't even fit in this bag! But it's a really cool piece to have, and it's by Kling (a brand I really like), so it'll stay in my collection for now.

The big news from last week is that I finally got my driver's license! I was incredibly nervous for this road test, and frankly, I thought I did worse on this test than the first one... but I passed, thank goodness! I haven't been driving myself a ton (I have to coordinate car usage with my mom for now, and because I've been working a lot of half-days and we have to pay for our own parking, it's been a hassle), but I drove by myself for the first time on Sunday -- and for the first time at night! I know it seems silly to be excited over something like this (especially when people 10 years younger than I am manage to do the same thing), but I feel a huge sense of accomplishment in conquering my anxieties about driving. I'm really happy about it, and feel very confident in my abilities -- not just with driving, but also with the idea of taking on other things that seem scary. I think doing something that scares us is the best way to grow as people, and I feel really good about about what I'm capable of doing.  :)

  1. I probably would have hesitated too, when it comes to that print, but it's so fun and you made it work. I love the layers!

  2. Super outfit:) xx

  3. Congrats on your license Sammi! Although having to drive everywhere sucks, it is very freeing. I love your food print and bag combo :) A purse that doesn't even hold a phone definitely isn't too practical these days, but it sure is fun!

  4. I mean, if you're not that attached, feel free to send it my way. ;) That print is so fun, almost like a superhero/comic book print, but with food. I think the black base helps make it more wearable, and it looks great on you.

  5. Congratulations Sammi! It's definitely never silly to be wxcited about anything and these driving accomplishments are definitely no exeption! A lot of people (including me) are getting used to driving a little later in the game. I've recently been taking the freeway and I definitely feel accomplished everytime.
It's also super cool that your bag and phone case match so precisely! Getting hungry! >_<

  6. Congratulations on getting your license! This is one of my personal favourite dresses :) It looks great on you. And the purse and phone case are so perfect with it!!
And you are so right about doing things that scare us is the best way to grow!

  7. Haha, such a comic book dress! I love it.

I saw you posting about your first solo drive on Instagram--congrats on that, it's a big first step! I love driving now, it's so much more convenient than car pooling and taking the bus places.. I reckon you're going to love it too when you realise how many opportunities having a car opens up! :)

  8. Sooo cute!! Such a fun look! x

  9. Hooray, congratulations! And I totally get that it feels like a big deal - I have still only driven completely alone ONCE, two years ago, and for about five minutes, so you're already doing better than me!! It's such an achievement, well done all round. And perfect accessorising, as usual... but I'd expect nothing less! CC x

  10. Oh Sammi, congratulations on getting the licensee! That is a huge deal, especially knowing how much work you put into getting it!

  11. Wow what an amazing bright print! I love those novelty purses but it should at least fit a phone haha

I saw on instagram that you got your driver's license.. Congrats on your hard work!! :D I can totally relate to those anxieties and I'm holding off for as long as possible.

  12. Huge congratulations on getting your license, dear Sammi. I'm super happy for you!

This outfit is a riot of fun, colour and feel good food vibes, right down to that darling wee ice cream brooch. Super fitting for Thanksgiving week indeed!

Speaking of which, I sincerely hope that you and your family have/had a marvelous celebration!

    ♥ Jessica

  13. 1) Haha that purse is THE most amazing thing, ever. I hate when purses cant hold all your stuff, but that's such a fun piece I'd probably make an exception. And how flawlessly does it go with your dress?
    2) you have the best dress collection, ever. do angels sing when you open your closet door? the answers yes, isnt it. yup, it's yes.
    3) ahhh congrats on getting your license! I got mine when i was almost 19 and that was the first and only time my palms ever got sweaty. Nerve. Wracking.

  14. This dress is a riot! And I adore the purse! Shame about it not being big enough for your phone though! Oh well! Congrats about getting your drivers license!

I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving!
