Magnolia

Outfit Details:
Confectioner's Dream Dress: ModCloth
Hair flower: Forever 21 (similar here)
Flats: Urban Outfitters (similar here)
Wicker purse: vintage (similar here)

I really wish we had a magnolia tree.  The blossoms would have been gone by the time I took these photos, but this outfit would have been a perfect match.  I sort of forgot about this hair flower clip until I was trying to figure out how to style this dress, but I'm really glad I rediscovered it.  As far as this dress goes, I think it's really dreamy on the website, but I don't like it quite as much in person -- largely due to fit issues.  Although I think ModCloth has some beautiful in-house designs, I've found that their exclusive lines are a little lacking in terms of fit.  The arm holes on this dress are a bit tight, and it's certainly not the most flattering dress I own.  The buttons on the top are actually a little uneven, too.  I thought long and hard about sending this one back, to be honest.  I think I ultimately just really loved the color, and it's hard to find a blush pink dress in just the right shade.  I may end up selling it in a "shop my closet" sale, I'm not sure.  But stay tuned on that front, because I have a lot of things that are taking up room in my wardrobe, and opening up my online "shop my closet" store is on my short list!

I can't believe it's the last day of May.  We're heading into summer territory at this point (like I've said before, spring never lasts as long as I want it to!).  I need to find a way to motivate myself this summer, and not take it too easy.  I've kind of been taking it easy for too long, at this point.  It's hard to start, though.  I always get overwhelmed with all the things I have to do and end up doing something unrelated to alleviate the stress, which is totally unproductive.  Anyone else have an issue with this?  How do you fix it?  I know it's better to focus on one thing at a time, but I have a really hard time doing that!  Any advice would be most appreciated.  :)

Have a great Saturday!

  1. These photos are adorable! I almost bought that dress myself too, but I can somewhat see now what you mean about the fit. It still looks darling on you, but I think its true that sometimes Modcloth's clothing just totally misses the mark in the fit department.

    I totally understand what you mean about summer. I get sort of overwhelmed with the possibilities of so much to do that I sort of just waste my time instead. It really sucks because then I'm stressed that I'm wasting time, but on the other hand I want to somewhat relax.. Oh, summer blues. Unfortunately I have no idea how to break that cycle..if you figure it out you have to let me know c;

  2. I just adore this dress and these photographs, you look lovely in them as always! I've been eyeing this dress for awhile now I am so happy to see how great it looks on you. I love ModCloth (who doesn't haha) I'm a sucker for picnic basket purses I believe I have an identical one, too cute!

    Unfortunately I don't think I have any advice, sorry. I'm a terrible procrastinator myself. I find the only way to get stuff done is if I make a list. Even then I get distracted. Sigh*

  3. I would love if you did a closet sale! Your clothes are always adorable, this dress included. Although I know what you mean about Modcloth, sometimes I have issues with fit also. I have such issues being productive but on the wrong things, like if I'm supposed to get something done I'll choose then to clean the whole apartment. I like to make checklists, but reasonable ones, I find it helps me prioritize the day

  4. I would shop the bejesus out of your closet! It's something I highly recommend, it's a great way to clean out your closet!

    As for Bea & Dot, I have two of their pieces and I immediately sized up thanks to the user reviews. Both of my dresses are spaghetti straps so I haven't had any issues with the arms... yet. I think they're just figuring out the fit I guess because lots of people on the site are complaining about sizing.

  5. I do the exact same thing with putting a ton of things off because they're overwhelming and just doing something else. I haven't figured out how to fix that yet either so you let me know if you figure it out! The only thing that helps me is make a detailed list and tackle little projects one at a time.

    But anyway, this dress is a wonderful color. It sucks about the fit issues because it's really cute. I love the flower hair clip you paired with it.

  8. All the places you go are like SECRET LITTLE FAIRY GLENS. Seriously. I've been trying to find some secret fairy spots and I actually sorta found one in my most recent post and totally thought of you. BUT THIS ISNT ABOUT ME IT'S ABOUT YOU AND YOUR CUTE PINK SELF

    That dress is precious and your flower matches it perfectly which is EXTRA PRECIOUS! Hmmm... as for motivation, I would say set a list of at least one decent new thing to do or accomplish every week. And just do it! And if you do it, maybe find a way to reward yourself?
