Green gingham

Green gingham dress

Oh summer, I'm not ready to say goodbye to you yet.  Gingham just seems like such a summery print to me, and this apple green gingham seems especially so.  Honestly, this dress fits a little strangely -- the boning on the sides can be really problematic, and the fabric on the bodice never lays the way I want it to.  But I have trouble getting rid of things, and in cases like this, the good (or at least, the potential) outweighs the bad.  So it's staying with me for now.

I had a bit of a headache to deal with this weekend when my bank notified me that there was suspicious activity on my account.  It turns out that someone got ahold of my debit card info (not my physical card, since I still had it) and was using it to go on a little shopping spree in Yonkers.  I have a feeling that whoever the person was, he/she got access to it at some point during my time in New York, which really irks me.  I paid cash for nearly everything, and used my card in only a couple of places (and not even at an ATM or to get a MetroCard!).  It's really troubling that it can happen anywhere.  Luckily, my bank was on top of it, and I was notified via text right after the person used it, and then someone from my bank called me to follow up on it.  I was really impressed, considering it was at 6PM on a Sunday night, and during a holiday weekend, no less (which I'm sure was part of the thief's thought process in choosing that time to use it).  I have to head to the bank this morning to finish straightening things out, but it seems like it won't be too bad of a process.  It's just disheartening that there are such dishonest people in the world.

  1. You're a summer dream in this outfit. How do you do it? Flawlessly timeless, always.

  2. Gingham is one of my favourites for summer - but you don't often see it in green. It's lovely, and I can't see the problems with the fit from these photos - the bodice in particular I thought was so cute! That's horrible about your card, I live in fear of that happening in case the bank didn't catch it and you just lost a tonne of money - I'm hoping the UK banks are this on it!! CC x

  3. Ugh, I've had my card number stolen too. They took almost 2,000 bucks from my account on Mother's Day last year. It SUCKED. Anyway, I love that dress! It's a shame it doesn't fit better, it looks perfect from here. I hope you can somehow make it work, it's too cute to let go!

  4. I'm sorry about the issues with your card, that has to be so frustrating! It's great that your bank was on top of things and got you sorted out quickly, though. I had something similar happen to me a few years back, and I was so greatful that my bank gotten everything taken care of and the money back in my account in just a couple of hours. It really rattled me, though.
The dress is really cute, it's too bad about the fit issues. I don't really see anything funny about the fit, but we're always going to be more aware of those things on ourselves. I do agree that that print is too cute to give up without a fight, though. It seems so unusual to see a gingham in that color.
    Cheers!

  6. Sorry about the mess with your debit card! That has happened to me too many times and caused such a fuss. My husband and I decided to sign up for an ID protection service a few months ago because of how many identities get stolen in the US on a daily basis! It's scary! You look so cute in that dress too btw! I have dresses that don't lay quite right as well but I still hold onto them hoping that the next time I try them on, a bit of magic will happen. Hahaha. <3 <3 <3 I wish I could go on Summer adventures with you!

  7. I would never know the dress fits strangely from the photos, it looks like a dream on you, I love the colors and the cutouts in the skirt. I'm sorry that you had to deal with that sort of mess with your card, it's always such a hassle. My bank tends to take the "better safe than sorry" approach and I've had to call to have my card unblocked when I've made an atypical purchase!

  8. Me neither! I want to put summer in a mason canning jar and savour it it for months more to come. This one felt like it fly by at the speed of light, which doesn't help matters one bit.

I'm so sorry about the situation with your debit card. Tony and I had that happen, not once, but twice (within the same year) several years ago when we were living in Toronto and though our bank did ultimately refund the funds to us, it was not an easy or stress-free process to have that happen in the slightest. I'd always been careful with where I used my card, but I grew nearly paranoid after that and stopped using non-bank ATMs entirely.

I agree, while dealing with the bank wasn't fun, the fact that there are such dishonest, unscrupulousness people in the world is far worse.

Fingers firmly crossed that everything gets straightened out and that you never run into this issue again, dear gal.
